Default TPMS

Just a bit of help here

I have the 2015 STi and it is a great car
But from day one the orange light of the tyre pressure monitoring system is on. The dealer tried to reset it, but no joy They said that Subaru says it is a "known" problem and a chief engineer from Subaru needs to come and do this

What am I doing? It's been 2 months now...

There were a couple of teething issues with the TPMS when they first came out but that wasn't the sti.

Why doesn't your dealer connect the SSM3 up and read the diagnostic codes and see that all the wheel transmitters are actually registered to the car and there isn't a fault logged with one of them. Pretty basic stuff to be honest I'm surprised they cant sort it. We have a tool that connects the transmitters to the car if they are yet to be activated, It could be something simple as a wheel has been swapped from another car and the ID is no longer valid. A simple reprogram procedure is all it would take.

Yes, they have done this with the reprogramming, but nothing

And indeed all wheels were removed on delivery as they all needed to be refurb, as on transportation (I was told) they were slightly scratched

They mentioned that because of the location (antennas and magnetic waves....), the system does not work and for another of their cars (with same problem, after again removing one wheel), a gent from Subaru had to come to them, take the car away of the area and sort it out.

Comments please...

I don't believe them, If that was the case everywere I drive my tpms light would flash. due to magnetic waves. never heard such crap.

More than likely when doing the wheels they've damaged the sensors in the wheels. and at £100 plus a corner they are reluctant to pay for new ones.

After contacting dealer again and Subaru UK, car is booked for check. I am told that they did not have some equipment, which now they have in order to sort it out...

They checked the tyres, there was a nail on the right front and there was loss of air. Tyre repaired light was still on...
Plugged in on the denso, all faults on ecu cleared, light off

I took the car and 10 miles later, light on again back to the dealer

Now we go out again, denso plugged in, and then try to reprogram with the hand-held tool. Red light, denso not picking any tyre pressure

Solution? They ordered 4 new sensors (warranty)

We were there for 4 cool hours (and after 60 miles back and forth) and 2 technicians were desperately trying to resolved it! They told me that this is at least car number 5 with such issues

I am so annoyed with all these electronic equipment.

Car booked again for the new job

Had a similar problem with a works jaguar after we refurbished the wheels. Turned out the tpms wasnt seated correctly due to the tyre vakve hole being misshapen.

magnetic waves etc is bull crap.

So job done and 4 new TPMS fitted under warranty. Reprogrammed. All OK, after over 200 miles plus yesterday's fun drive with SMOC!

PS. I was told that the wheels were swapped from another car (due to the scratches) and there was no communication between sensors and denso (I saw the system recording 0 pressure!)
