Default Goodyear UltraGrip 9 vs. Michelin Pilot Sport 3

Just fitted my winter tyres on skinny 6Jx15 wheels ready for what looks like being the mildest winter for some time. Typical. Summer wear for my Hawkeye wagon is 205/50R16 Michelin PS3 and initial impressions of the 195/60R15 UG9s are pretty favourable. They are noticeably quieter than the PS3s and the ride is softer but boy do they squirm around on those taller sidewalls. High speed lane changes are interesting to say the least Needs a few miles for them to bed in and lose the release compound and for me to sort out the pressures but they should be a comfortable set of boots for the winter commute and occasional fun in the lanes when I need to avoid the M25/M11. I've never had winter tyres before so looking forward to seeing what they can do. PS3s are approx 50% worn at 13,000miles mostly motorway use. I will enjoy having then back on come spring.
