Default Rota Wheels with 5mm Spacer

I am running 18'' Rota wheels and the fronts have 5mm spacers ( Was on the car when I got it ), now when I drive at 65mph + the steering wheel starts vibrating, I have had the geometry done and also the coil-over height adjusted ( The vibration was there before this was done )

Is they any way of doing away with the 5mm spacer and maybe shaving the caliper down or fitting something else instead of a spacer? I think this is the cause of the problem.

You checked wheel balancing?

I'd go with wheel balance issue too. Also check if any of the wheels are bent. Can be seen easily on a balancing machine. Wouldn't have thought it would be the spacer.

I had almost exactly the same thing (bought my car with spacers on too). I balanced all of mine, twice! Refurbished the wheels with M444GY from here, they said they could get the buckles out. But after I paid up, I still had the vibrations, although they were slightly better. M444GY was super nice, and gave me a bit of a discount on a new set of wheeels.

With the new wheels on, the vibrations have gone.

Strange, I am not sure what could be causing it.

Could disks and pads cause it even though it happens while not braking?

No. As said already will either be wheel balancing, damaged mis-shapen tyre or bent wheels.

Some folk that put balance on can't do them for ****, take it to a proper place and get them checked again. Also a weight could of come off too.

Another thing to consider is wheel bearing, I had a front one go on my old bug, no noise or whine at all, but plenty of vibration.

Have you got a spare set of wheels, or a mate with a set? You can swop over to rule out (or not) the wheels.

Wheels have been balanced twice, I may swap the front to the back, if not try another set of wheels may be.

running spacers will most likely give you a wobble due to the wheel not being hubcentered , the problem you have is if you remove the spacers the wheels will hit the brakes (brembos) if you have them . its something you will have to live with running the wheels you have tbh . its annoying but the wheels are not meant for the car originally looks over practicality are the aim of the game for most people id ditch the rims for something you don't need spacers for , most of the rota range clear without spacers bar the 18x9.5 grids ,

I ran for years (without realising) on wheels with no spiggot rings, obviously fitted some when I realised they were missing but had no vibration issues with a lack of hub centre. Was I just lucky?
