Default GB270 Big brake conversion

I currently have one of my front brake calipers that sticks from time to time causing excessive heat and an ear piercing high pitch squeal so It seems an ideal time to consider a front disc and caliper upgrade. Could anybody please recommend any big brake kits or offer any second hand kits in good nick.

Well I'm still in the process of bedding in a set of 4 pot APs on mine and even now the improvemt is very noticeable. Have a chat with Ian at Godspeed brakes and he can sort you out with a 330mm kit for the same cost as a the comparable ksports.

Personally I would stick with Brembos and decent pads unless you go on track a lot.

I wouldn't suggest that bigger brakes, like APs or K Sports won't be better, but having tried K Sports over a good Brembo set up bot with PF-Z pads, the improvement certainly isn't worth the expense in my view.
As I say if you track your car much the extra cooling will be a big help, but in normal daily driving the benefit is minimal.

A second hand set of Brembos will set you back less than £500.

The Brembos don't fit under the GB270 wheels (so I'm told), so you've then get into the wheel spacers debate.

As for the price of APs, your looking around £1300 with: 330mm 2 piece discs, 4 braided hoses, CP6600 calipres and a set of pads of your choice.

Reading this i'm guessing you think his car has the Brembo's fitted as standard which is why you are recommending he sticks with them.

The GB 270 comes with the Standard WRX Subaru 4 pots with 294mm discs , not the STi Brembo's

Cheers Ian

Yes I realise that Ian, my meaning was more about sticking with OEM equipment that is readily available. Didn't come out too well though
