Exclamation Front srandard brakes binding and getting worse

Hi I have a problem with my front brakes. I have a v3 wrx type ra with standard 2 pots. I have done some searching/reading and hoping it is just a lack of copper grease. When I bought the car about 18 months ago the discs and pads had just been done and were working fine although lacking in a little stopping power.I spoke to joe v3sti when I met him and he said the 2 pots are sufficient for my standard car and suggested decent pads, discs and brake lines for much better braking which I will be doing in time.
I'm going to grease the backs and sides of the pads and spray a little wd40 into the pistons tomorrow and hope this works to stop them sticking, but if worst case and they need a refurb is it an easy DIY job or do I need special tools?
Cheers Rich

is there nothing you don't have mate. Can I move into your garage lol
I'm not sure if they would fit? I have v2 wheels on and they are a really snug fit with my 2 pots,I was worried the wheels wouldn't fit due to v3 discs being bigger than v2

its fairly straight forward to refurb yours any way,i done my 4s tools needed were longnose plyers, hammer , decent flat blade screwdriver, molegrips, just a case of knocking the old pos ts out ,can be tricky if seized, a big vice or extra pair of hands help too

Mine are 294mm afaik I like the v2 wheels and will probably stick with 16's tbh
I'm pretty good with a spanner so shouldn't find it to hard if no special tools needed.
I will see how I get on tomorrow with my tub of grease. Might look into 4 pots when I get around to upping the power

I think v2 had 277mm discs that's why I thought the wheels wouldn't fit

Cheers Ian but this is why I'm confused, the database states that my v3 ra has 2pots and 294mm discs as standard?

Whichever database you're looking at is incorrect

That site is normally quite accurate however in this case there is a mistake as the smaller calipers can't take the 294mm discs.
It also says the 2 pots are opposed which is incorrect as they are fixed calipers (the pots are on one side).

But for your own peace of mind just measure them

Cheers joe that is mighty nice of you mate. I've just got one side off and am in the process of cleaning them up,they are very dry and looks like no copper grease has been put on when someone fitted em. Calipers look in reasonable condition so I'm hoping a good clean and a spot of grease might do the job. I will give you a shout joe if mine need replacing and I would sort you out with some kind of donation if mine are shot
Cheers for the info @myblackwrx

Right,I have done the o/s front as this was the worst judging by the amount of brake dust on the wheel after cleaning the day before. The car rolls a lot better but still slightly binding,I will do the other side and rears when I'm on mi next days off on Wednesday.
I will be getting in touch with Godspeed for discs and pads package eventually as they have good rep on here. Leaking water pump is 1st on the list and not sure if I'm confident enough to do my self due to having to take cam belt off. I will do some more reading and see how I feel

Set off to work this morning and Front brakes are binding badly again. I did spray a little wd40 onto the pistons but they were all the way in when I did it,thinking about it now maybe I should have pumped the brakes with calipers off so pistons were al the way out before I sprayed with lube. I'm going to tackle them on Wednesday to see if I can get them sorted(worst case it's only £20 for a pair refurb kit).
Is there any tips/advice to get them running smoothly I would be greatful cheers
Rich

Have been chatting to the Heidelberg engineer fixing a couple of things on the press,he tells me wd40 is pretty pants and when it dries out leaves a nasty residue. So I got some decent creeper oil off him and he suggested lightly clean the pistons with very fine emry or scotch brite then give it a squirt of oil. I will give it a go on Thursday and hopefully this will do the trick
