How to tell 2 pot from 4 pot?
Can anyone help me figure out what type of brake setup I have? I have to replace the two front brake discs, and need to know what the different calipers look like.
Does anyone have a diagram of 2 pot and 4 pot brake calipers? I need to know a.s.a.p. The front caliper looks roughly like this...

|______________| Is this 2 pot or 4 pot???? ARGH HELP!
YOU'LL NEED TO CLICK ON EDIT MESSAGE TO SEE THE DIAGRAM PROPERLY!!!
I also remember the brake pads being no bigger than about 4" wide (*** packet length), if this helps?!?

If you have 4 pots it will say Subaru in white on the outer edge (can see it through the spokes)
4 pots use a 294mm Diameter disk
2 pots use a 266mm Dia. disk
From your pic I would say you have 2 pots.
What year is the car?
Iain.

Dyney - thanks for the response, I think they must be 2 pot. I went out and did a bit of VERY rough diameter measuring of the disk, and they are definitely under 11 inches (under 280mm). Also, the calipers look old, with no visible markings at all.
I have a MY98 model.
Thanks once again.

Ahh! but the Spec actually changes in September

So a car built in October 98 would (in theory) be a MY99
Just thought I'd confuse you all
Iain.
Ps. Tony, If it doesn't say Subaru on the Calipers they are definitely 2 pots
Believe me you would see it if it said it!!
