as said 17s are probably the best compromise re looks and handling, think carefully about a dump valve intercooler, mine didn't like a VTA DV (it had this on when I bought it) so I returned it to the OE recirc and it was much happier, BTW if you want to try a VTA DV before you buy let me know I have spare Bailey and blanking plug somewhere about and your welcome to try it.
Re intercoolers depending on what type your planning a remap may be necessary, front mount can change boost levels with no other mods, if your thinking of future power mods (even simple ones, induction, exhaust, de-cat etc) you will need a remap, so the best way forward is to decide what you want, source all the parts required and then fit all at once along with the remap.
Speak to Andy Carr he'll advice on the best options.
