Hi eggy

Saw you do some runs at York mate! looked good! Better than those two black evo's you were going up against!! They couldnt set off for toffee

Plus I noticed a lot of people doing the 'blip blip throttle' on the start line and getting terrible starts in Scoobs

hi mate

what car were you in? yeah i got there and thought forget the clutch, i'll pay for a new one if it slips.. and ran the car.

the two black evos were my mates lol they were suprised at my car..but yeah there launches wernt too good.

the one with the number plate 'rig gaf' is 420bhp mapped by matt at the racing line

but for some reason i beat him .. i was so shocked at that, never lined him up before. i know his launch messed up but 420 is like another 100 bhp on top, should have caught back up..

i really dont understand evos and their transmission losses.. saw his dyno sheet which said 421 at the fly i think it was and then another sheet that said 328 at the wheels..

the other black evo was a standard fq340 and that did quite well, winning a trophy for fastest evo.. 13.0 second quarter mile.. i did it in 13.2. not sure if thats good or bad.. my first ever go at drags.

all in all was a good day out

also that black hawkeye STi was suprising, that was one of the evo guys mates and it was supposed to be remapped with silly torque..but i seemed to beat him down the strip too.

messed my first run up against the yellow classic i missed third gear and went into neutral and redlined it got 13.8 on that run. but it was my first time and i was nervous.

i actually went out there thinking i'd mess up but it's all for fun so doesnt matter, didnt do too bad and my clutch is still going strong.

yeah was a really good day, shame i had to leave early, recieved a fonecall, saying the clutch i was getting fitted into the twinscroll was proving difficult and i had to get some other bits down to my mates to finish that off.

defo going to give drags another go. the saxo with the vtec engine in the boot was amazing, anyone get a video of that?

o cool let me know how the helix clutch is as i think i'l be going helix when the clutch goes on my car , heard good things about them.

as for 13.2 lol it began to annoy me as i kept getting 13.21.. 13.29 etc. i tried changing gears at different rpms, dint make much difference, i think the reaction time and launch is the only place i can save time at the moment as the car stands..

Good day out, even though it was like winter in the middle of nowhere! Did the jet car ever get going I left about 3. The low roof saxo was awsome. Was gonna have a go in my motor but it looked from the sidelines that it could prove to be a bit of a car breaker? Noticed a few RWYB motors slowing before the 1/4 mile with various issues.

i'm not sure if it ever did, i left around 3.30pm so didnt see the jet car go either..

i didnt see any cars having trouble apart from the highly modifies ones with engine swaps.. everyone seemed happy in the queues and were going for mulitple runs

maybe they knew the times were gonna be poor and backed off? One of the lancers sounded out of sorts toward the end of the run and an sti sounded sick off the line, maybe had launch control? Not sure my old scoob would enjoy a flat out run I would rather try the scooby sprint but i read that has been scrapped now!

it was black, but both lanes had black ones running wasn't close enough to catch the reg. Should be a better gathering later in the year when the sun decides to pay a visit!

I heard a lot of cars with launch control and it looked like it wasn't that much help it just seemed to stall the turbo more!! When I ran my red gti-r up there it was a case of 5/6000 rpm drop clutch and off! I ran a helix ceramic in that car with countless runs n trackdays and when engine was last out I checked the flywheel and clutch and it looked fresh as a daisey!

yeah on some runs it worked fine for me, some it sorta bogged down, the revs dropped. but last time i launched the scooby without it, i could smell the clutch for days.. i couldnt smell it once with launch control so i use it just to save the clutch lol once uprated i'll try launching myself

I've dropped the clutch twice in my sti and your right clutch smell lasted for ages plus I'm not sure the 6 speed will like alot of 6k side step action plus even that much revs can work in a negative result! The Nissan did but it's 4wheel drive system was less advanced than newer scoobs! I think it's just trial and error as each car is different

Default Clutch

I have sold the RB320 now but did a few days at York and did a 12.9 with 4500 rpm clutch drops no problem once I had sorted the diff out,but the smell lasts for days as you say

It used to do it pulling off the drive on a morning LOL

Good one Eggy

no noise limits whatsoever.. they gave me a card with dates of the rest of the RWYB events for the rest of the year.. and all say no noise regs.. my exhaust actually sounded quite compared to the hot rods and some other cars there lol

lol thats a really good time for a standard 320

i think i'll do some proper launches when i get a new clutch, until then i'll have to stick with launch control to save this standard clutch.. its done 86k and nearly 16/17 launches with me now

Its not bad I have done 13.1 in a stage 1 270 bhp sapphire cosworth 2 wheel drive a few years ago.
Most of the time its in the start and having the nuts to just let it rip at the right time.

wow that is a good result!

i can see where i need to improve, here are two of my times..

this is the run against the black evo 420bhp (right lane is me on this one)

this is run which is on the video above against the hawkeye (left lane is me)

edit: pics not really clear, but as you said Leecos, its all about the start/launch..

my reaction times always seems to be around 1.3..

they are really slow! and i think some of that delay is from the launch control hmm
