3 men, 2 bikes an STI support vehicle and 1 dream but that’s another story and really not publishable on here
Yes Ewan, Charlie and their support teams have done the Long way round, and the Long way Down, so we intrepid WYIOC’ers made the usual meticulous plans, and the journey was born.
(not too much interest on the initial thread understandably with the busy show season)
Short way up.
29th August 2008 –
The team:- Ewan Mc’Shorty, Charlie the pole Ward and Mr. Jock Strap (in support)
The transport:- Varadero 1000, VRF800 and an STI8.
The plan, to travel up to Scotland passing Glasgow, then pushing further north past loch Lomand, to our first overnight stop.
The first part of this epic ok ok (short in comparison) journey around 300miles.
After a well deserved rest, a couple of the local establishments finest and a night tucked up under the stars, we will travel around the mountains and lochs of Scotland. Soaking in the scenery and exploring one another’s
Limits of adhesion, on the finest roads Scotland has to offer.

Good Times.

We were gonna change the name to Wrong Way Down, but the t-shirts were already in production.
Lessons learned?
Well, if it rains bikers get wet. And it did, ALL the way home for some 450+ miles.
If it rains, Scooby owners stay dry until bikers who left their gloves in the Scoob decide they want them.
McLattes taste even better when you're soaked to the bone
Kyle of Lochalsh to Wakefield is do-able in one day
...but there's **** all to do in the Kyle of Lochalsh
Next time, we're going over the bridge to Skye

Accidentally? Yeah, right
Daren't post THAT pic though Al. It's like a small supernova in the NW corner of Scotland.
In fact, it's that combined with a big black hole. Rare indeed

Top pics guys! I'm pretty envious but after 4 hours on the boneshaker yesterday in the leathers not sure I'd manage a trip of those proportions. Still, took in some roads and sights from WYIOC adventures of yesteryear

Did a stretch between Grassington and Pateley bridge I'd not done before - absolutely stunning
Simon - I can't believe you've bought what I heard you were buying before you've passed your test. Very, very nice though mate. Get yourself passed and get out there

SPILF!!!
tbf, Mick sptted it, but IIRC I named it!
Whatever, comedy moment of the weekend. That and getting mashed in Paddy's bar on Fiday night. Mick and Dazza embark upon an epic 2 mile hike to their b&b, illuminated only by thelight of a mobile phone. Sticky nips over the road and is in bed before you can say *hic*
...though the fight to resist playing on the trampoline was a difficult one.
