Autosport International Pics
Me and Lynds went on Friday, had a good day and it was busy, even for a trade day. Saw Andy from AET there as well, doing his thing with the AET stand and saw JB as well.
The live action area was good this year, with a very emotional tribute video to Colin Mcrae, it was very obvious that this years show was rightly so about him.
Heres the some of the cars we saw, unfortunately I didn't get too many pics, my battery went down quite quickly on my phone...
Classic Touring cars
Duckhams Mini Clubman

Ford Lotus Consul Cortina

Triumph Dolomite Sprint

1960s American Ford Galaxy

Vauxhall Viva or Victor I think, can't remember

BTCC 1995 Vauxhall Cavalier

News article about the win

Jim Clark Cars
Lotus Cortina

Lotus F1 Car

JPS F1 Car

Jaguar Le Mans Car

Coys Auction
Sorry about these pics, the lights were too intense and you can't go into the stand to look round the cars unless you pay £20! Not suprising since the cheapest car on the stand was £20,000+
Maserati F1 Car - As seen on Top Gear, £1,000,000 worth!

Chevy Belair

Datsun 240Z track prepared car

Gorgeous Austin Healey

Erm...think this is a Mosler, not a clue

Classic Martini Racing Porsche 911

Superbly modified Volvo - The bumpers are carbon fibre, Porsche engine.

Classic Ferrari F1 Car

Bugatti F1 Car

Fiat 500 Abarth race car

Jaguar E-Type Lightweight

Triumph Stag race car

Pontiac GTO

1972 Ford Mustang Convertible

Dodge Viper

Hemi Cuda 340 - extremely rare and worth a fortune

Dodge Charger R/T

Other stands
Amazing custom paint job on the Chevy Nova

Paint job extended into the clean engine bay

Luigi...I mean another tuned Fiat 500

Some for the West Yorkshire Impreza and Peugeot Owners Club (WYIPOC) members

The Dynamac Carbonfibre rimmed alloys

Another legend - Bigfoot

Roger Clark Rally cars
Mini Cooper

Ford Escort Mk2

Maserati Mille Miglia car

Jaguar C-Type

Bugatti kids pedal car - This was hand made by the guy on the stand and was for sale... £5000!

Team Castrol Skyline Drift car

Very tidy Evo

Mitsubishi Stand
New Lancer - This is not the EVO but it still looks good.

Evo X Black

Evo X Red

Subaru and Prodrive
This is the new Impreza desert rally car, on the Thursday the pit crew dismantled the car on the stand totally as you can see. On the Friday they started putting it back together, I didn't get a pic of them putting it back together as the crowd was too big and my battery had gone by then.

The new Impreza STI - I have to be honest, I actually like the STI version its just how the rest of the range should look. It is much much better in the metal than in the pics. Even the rep on the stand we spoke to agreed!

Al, is there enough in the membership pot for this?

The Shell oils stand
One very very tidy VW Van - notice the Porsche 550 Spyder kids pedal car on the roof.

Lynds got more of this stand.
The Colin Mcrae Tribute stand
His first rally car, Talbot Sunbeam, which he still owned right upto his untimely death. He'd owned this car since he was 17.

Colins second car - a Vauxhall Nova 1.3 which he owned from 18 years old. This was the car that he drove when he gained the interest of Prodrive director Dave Richards.

Legendary Legacy - Colins first car under the contract of Prodrive. He admits on the tribute DVD that in his first year with Prodrive in 1991 he was earning only £10,000 a year - minimum wage. In this car, Colin won every single event in the British Lombard rally in 1992.

We all know this car, the Impreza WRC car that Colin won the World Championship with. A car that got us all into the marque onto here.

Colins Focus Rally car, this one has the Snorkel, more than likely one used for the desert rallies.

Colins Citroen Xzara WRC car - his last car in the WRC.

I saw the last pic on the wall of the Colin Mcrae Tribute stand and just had to take a pic.
Well those are my pics, I had a great day and will be going again next year.

I went on Saturday mainly to see the new Sti.. and it does look better in the flesh but those rear lights are so cheap looking...but saying that when I saw the EVO x in black it blew away the Sti in looks..Plus the build quality was much better than the scoob..

Nice write up to accompany them too Rich.
Though can I just point out that the Porsche engined 'Volvo' is in fact a Veedub
Simon and myself were down there yesterday. I was happy with the lack of crowds, but otherwise felt quite let down by the standard of everything else. The live action show wasn't a patch on 2006, nor was the rest of the show. The Pistonheads section was more like Max Power live, and the STi needs a very big rethink. Evo X was the only redeeming feature

Cheers, all part of my job on TG as well.
See now I thought that too but the guy on the Coys stand as insistant it wasn't.
Thats why I prefer going down on the trade days, its generally quieter but this show was alot smaller that last year and indeed 2006. I think now the show will end up pushing more towards the Pistonheads things as apposed to the Motorsport side, which is very unfortunate. We didn't even go into the Pistonheads side, we just couldn't be bothered.

It's a VW Type III estate (or squareback)

As a kid we had the saloon / hatchback version for a short while. IIRC the heater didn't run off the hot water sysem, as it was air cooled, it was in fact petrol powered

Looked identical to this one...
Aye I couldn't remember the model but I had seen one before on the road so I recognised the shape but he proper threw me off with arguing abuot it....the tit.
Ah well, it was still tidy, though out of the cars in the Coys area I'd have had the Mustang GT390 fastback. I couldn't get a pic of it as it was right in the middle of the stand.
