Default Went for a drive

Friend of mine from work bought an MR2 the other week so we went for a little drive last week, Strines, Ladybower, Snake Pass, Holmfirth etc, great day and great weather.

So we decided to go for another little run today, where to go though I thought I know, Cat & Fiddle , not done it before so why not, unfortunately the weather wasn't as good as last week and this was the result

Seems wet weather and rear wheel drive aren't a very good mix, I did try to convince him to buy a Scoob when he was looking

Anyway fortunately driver and car are both ok, all damage is merely cosmetic, scrapes, scratches and of course a BIG dent in his pride looks like our runs out might be off for a while now, he was driving a bit sheepishly on the way back to say the least, poor lad

Thankfully no harm done.

You have another friend who's offered to join you on midweek jaunts occasionally

pmsl @ Al

First thing that crossed my mind

Second thing was that it looks like someone else may have taken the wall out as there is just too little damage. Lucky boy

When you consider what could have been, lucky doesn't even cover it really. While we were waiting for the recovery truck to arrive we saw loads of lorries go by, if he'd crossed the path of one of those it could have been a very different story
The section of the wall he hit was all intact before he got there but only about a foot of it protrudes above the level of the grass verge, if you go back down the road a few feet there is a section about 2 car lengths long which has previously been knocked over, he likes to be different

I'm sending him out on Sat to get me a lottery ticket

Oh and Mick if you think that steps out easy consider this, it's not even the turbo version, it's just the straight 2 litre

Hi Mate

I can vouch and have used Calton's near Featherstone, they did an awful lot of work on my Subaru as most know, there workmanship is second to none, and best of all you don't need a space shuttle to reach the invoice.

Tell them Mick at Ford gave you there details, Guys name is Mark Atkinson

Caltons - Wakefield Road, Featherstone, Pontefract, West Yorkshire, WF7 5BP- 01977-708137

I had the turbo version and it was one word..........lethal! Especially in the wet,I never gave it any beans in the wet. They are lovely cars but give it a corner, wet road and some power........bye bye rear end
Here was mine, had some VERY scary moments in it and this was running 280bhp!

Sold it to a mate and he wrote it off in the first week

Cheers lads - thanks for the welcomes and the contacts.
Hopefully ill get to c u all at some track day.

The MR2 is really nice (even with the latest modifications
Me and Bgood went searching and saw some really bad examples, until we stumbled upon this little gem of a place Showcase Sports cars Stocklist

it had the best examples of MR2s we saw on our travels.

Although non of em have as much BHP as Andys above
That must have been an awsome drive, and ur right they are a nightmare in the wet

Hopefully Micks contact above can sort that out for me
Ill keep u all posted tho so thanks for that.
Now all i got to do is see how much that farmer geezer want for fixing his wall- anyone any idea on that - lol?

Just found the thread. Glad you're ok mate

I've used a guy called Carl morton a couple of times in a place called Liversedge (check Google Maps) whis isn't too far away. He is fairly cheap and does a good job. You can get him on 01924 412434 or 07879 655817

Cheers

Michael
