EOM Meet - 30th August - Squires @ 7:30
When in doubt and struggling what to write... drag up a Greek God..
Zeus the rain God comes to my rescue!!
I haven't done a Greek God write up for ages.... I'm really pleased it's hammered down for the last month now.. Well done Zeus!
This is the bloke we have to thank...
(Stop that sniggering at the back Atack!)
Zeus (Jupiter) wasn't a nice chap at all, as he overthrew his Father Cronus to become the supreme ruler of the gods (Cronus wasn't too chirpy either as he'd swallowed Zeus's brothers and Sisters Hestia, Demeter, Hera, Hades, and Poseidon). This bodes well for Sean, Pip, Jordan and the other lads as one day they'll overthrow their Dads to become supreme ruler of the TV Remote one day.
Zeus was lord of the sky, the rain god and the cloud gatherer. So, all I can assume is that his current Mrs must be out with the girls as he's been a bit busy over the past months peeing many people off.
Not being a pleasant sort of chap, he's often be seen hurling his main weapon about (a thunderbolt) which he hurls at those who displease him.
I have a feeling Crafts may be in for a 'shocking' time as I'm sure there's some Greek rule about missing first base when trying to squeeze in a home run... Or maybe me after Laughing after Emma after she got a tent roof full of water on her head...
It was funny... I mean really funny... honest...
He was famous for many affairs too, just like.... er....er (I will keep diplomatically quiet at the point *cough*)..
He also had punch ups galore.. devoured his enemies and second pregnant wife (not sure what happened to the other 5), married his sister had people tortured by eagles and was generally very unpleasant.... However he did like to dance to his Muses (who now appear as a 3 piece rock band) and had his main consort Nike (the goddess of victory) lavish all sorts of pleasantries on him (lucky sod getting a free pair of those new Total 90 Strikes...)...... See? you have learned something... eh?
Appears he doesn't like Scoobs though, because he's pee'd down on us every time we've got together to have a little fun....
But he's not Omnipotent... Oh no... you see he hasn't taken into account our Ninja, Meek and short bald guy...... three special characters who get wheeled out on special occasions to make us laugh... and boy did we have a laugh this weekend... especially watching one of that lot trying to make it to first base without spilling his Magners.... or better still being stood on first base and not wanting to catch the ball in case he spilled his Magners
So, regardless of how pee'd off Zeus gets, we can always be guaranteed to laugh in his face and enjoy ourselves.... so don't let Zeus win.... come on down to Squires on the 30th and stick two fingers up in the direction of Mount Olympus....

The usual fun filled convoys to the venue will set off from the Brickworks, Drighlington at 7pm (organiser step forward!!!) and the trading post in Castleford at 7:20 (or when the Brickworks lot turn up...)
