Club Track Car
I have the proud duty of announcing the fact that the club has purchased a dedicated trackcar...
This is not one of those scrap yard cars that were circulating until death at Blyton, but the cherished and well sorted Black 309 GTI that Kev, his wife and two friends were driving (apologies for the lack of names
).
The car has been properly prepared;
309 GTI 3 door
10 point OMP cage including door bars
Pair of cobra Monaco seats on runners (i.e. not fixed position)
Pair of 3 point harnesses
Battery relocated to the boot with isolator
Fire extinguisher fitted
Full stainless exhaust
Air induction kit
Stripped to a bare minimum
Sunroof removed and plated with Aluminium
10 wheels with various tyres
Various other spare parts
Rear suspension lowered 40mm, front standard
Approx 145bhp and <800kg. ~180bhp/ton

OK. For those questioning how we've managed to afford this:
I'll not post exact details here, but no direct club money was used (Subs, charity or Mark E donation).
This was down to price negotation, some money left over from the day itself, but mostly by the stunningly kind donation of money (to be repaid) by a member....
I'll be happy to explain to anyone interested.
The car is now in club possession and we will hold various club discussions / meetings to decide how people can hire the car and how much it will cost. We will have the use of a trailer to get the car to Blyton or any other venue.
If you have experience of such legal or logisitcal undertakings, then kindly post your ideas here...

Sounds like a good buy.
Suggestion : For anyone wanting to drive this car it is mandatory to provide own track day insurance, I don't know the in's and out's of ownership but if it belongs to the club it could save aggro if owt went wrong ...................... just a thought.

Daz, although insurance seems a good idea, 5 peoples premiums for a day will cover the cost of the car. Given that for the price of the average one day track insurance cover you can buy a car like either Dave's Sierra or Steve/Lyndon/my 309 it sort of makes the club car seem financially pointless if we are to insist on insurance. I think the rental for the use of the car should go into a pot for service and repair bills. If just 10 of us decide to use it and pay just £20 each, that would give us £400 over the year with just the Blyton days. Add in that we may use it on other trackdays too and there would be plenty of cash to keep it sweet I think.
Guys,
I would agree with Dave re the track day insurance, this can be very costly. My suggestion quite simply is, if you hire it and you break it, you pay for it to be fixed.... This alone should be enough to keep everyone in check.
Hope this helps....

looks just the job - you might wanna have a word with Simon and Daz, I reckon they could be interested in getting their hands on that for the next trackday
