Front Bumper Damage

Front Bumper Damage
Some of you are aware of small my nearside scrape that has caused a relatively minor scuff and paint loss to the bumper and lens cover.
This was caused by a Taxi Driver who couldn't see the WR Blue car in his rear view whose driver was standing on the horn!!
Scooby Clinic have said £150 and 3 days off the road as the bumper is removed, stripped, resprayed, baked and reinstalled. Fair enough.
Taxi driver said there's a decent bloke in York (where it happened) who can do a seamless job.
Now.. Any job where I can't see the join will be acceptable.. and the fact that I'm off to York Friday and he can do it in the day is a bonus.. problem is, if the job isn't to my satisfaction.. can he turn around and say.. 'I've repaired it.. tough $hit..' and I have no leg to stand on?
Chris (anyone), would I be up the creek if I accept this? Or do I just plump for the day Clinic, proper job?
Any advice, experience gratefully received..

Alan I have no experiance in this and where you stand afterwards,
However if you tell the repairer of your required standards before he starts the job and if he can't ''gaurantee'' seemless work than not to bother starting it, as you have an alternative whom will guarantee his work.
I know its pretty obvious but just a suggestion.
The guys who did my car are far more local and as you can see by mine do a seemless job, just another suggestion to cloud your judgment

Al mate - the Supply of Goods & Services Act states that the job must be done satisfactorily - ie. that the workmanship (and the materials used) must be 'merchantable' and fit for the purpose.
For the avoidance of doubt, I'd suggest that you clarify (as Mick has stated), that you require the repair to be invisible. If he's remotely decent at his job, he should be able to repair it to the requisite standard.
If the job turns out to be unsatisfactory, your statutory rights are unaffected - in other words you can take proceedings to seek remedial action.
Remember, there is a contract between you and the repairer and, if he fails to put the vehicle right, you are entitled to be placed in the position that you would be in, had the contract for its repair been properly performed.
Similarly, as far as the taxi driver is concerned, you are entitled to be put in the position that you would have been in prior to the accident occuring - ie. a car without any damage (visible or otherwise). I should add that this is not a contractual liability, but a tortious one (ie in tort - common law).
Ring me if there's a problem mate...

Incidentally, there is always Emley Refinishers at guess where...
Recently did a superb job on my dad's Meriva rear bumper, which was hit by an errant 4X4 in (what a surprise) the local garden centre - Okay, so he's a stereotype....
Anyway, the work was around £175 and is absolutely invisible, despite the plastic of the bumper being effectively crushed by aforesaid vehicle...

There's a bloke at Outwood who's done some bumper repairs on a car at work for a lad and he's happy with it. The bloke was going to do my bumper scrape for just over a ton but I made sure it wasn't the only bit requiring attention a week later...
I've got his card in my file at work if you're interested?
