Air induction kit on WRX ???
hi guys
im thinking of fitting an air induction kit on my 2001 WRX, mainly cosmetic reasons but do you really see any difference mechanically wise ie more bhp or is it best just to leave it as it is standard?
cheers

no point putting a cone on mate, you will just suck in hot air and infact make the car slower!
I have carried out a few tests over the years and the best thing for these cars imho is a uprated panel filter such as K&N, Green or HKS.
If it was required, Sti would have fitted them as standard

Remove the off side front wheel, remove plastic inner wheel arch, remove the two 10mm bolts from the slam plate intake scoop and remove, undo the 10mm bolt holding the snorkle in place, then simply pull it out, it is best to cut the bottom off the snorkle just below the bend and refit the top part, but you will loose the induction/DV noise a bit.
Also to get the full effect you will need a good panel filter.
you can fit an induction kit to get a louder sound but it either need to be in the arch or the expensive ones that have a good quality heatshield with then, either of these will need your map tweeked due to running lean.
Give me a shout if thats what you want to do, i can rescale your MAF and or adjust anything necessary.
Hope this help,
Mark
