Question MAF Sensor & Boost solenoid

Hi All, Need to ask a favour does anyone have a MAF sensor and a 2 port boost solenoid i could borrow to test to see if its either of them causing my boost problem. Its a 2002 WRX. I don't mind paying people back for postage. I'm attending the next meet, so can return them then! Cheers all.

Have you tried cleaning them?

I have a nearly new Denso MAF (<500 miles) and a MY07 BCS (should work on a bugeye too IIRC) for sale at the moment - £120 for both.

I installed a boost gauge today. And i've noticed that when i'm boosting hard it goes upto about 14PSI then drops to 10PSI then builds back up again. It doesn't hold the boost. I did the MAF test today and that seems to all be ok. But i don't know how to clean the boost solenoid, because its the newage wrx i can't do the "plug test" (Connect wires under stering column) Its not a problem but bugging me why it does it. Its no missing or anything its as if i aint getting enough fuel, then i am then im not, if that makes sense

Worth checking the pipework for leaks in the first instance.

Your overboosting, trust me, your ecu is seeing to much boost than thats on the map and its pulling boost, then when it drops back it allows it to boost again and so on.

where your green plugs under the dash tapped up or hanging loose.

if your green plugs are not tapped up the the cars likely to have been mapped especially if the flash block is free as well, an ecu reset wont sort your problem, this can only be done via the obd port.

How you doing black widow! I don't know why i'm overboosting though...... its annoying me! I will have a look for the green connectors tomorrow. So if they are tapped up, it would show they havent been touched obviously if they are lose they have been touched. How can i stop the overboost. Today i noticed i hit 14PSI before it dropped back down.

PM me your postcode and i will see how far you are. How long would it take you to look at? and when would you be free to do it? I take it, its just a case of plugging your computer in.
Cheers

Had a look today and the green plugs under the sterring column appear to not be wrapped up, spose that indicates that someone has played around with the ecu?
