My first scooby problem, i think.......
Hi All,
Think i may have encountered my first scooby problem. I noticed when i was driving back from picking it up yesterday, that when i'm boosting and my foot is down, it seems to hold back and jump as the revs are getting higher. As if there isn't a constant flow of fuel..........
I've got a 52 WRX from 55K miles, completley standard apart from STI backbox.
Any advice is much appreciated

If you open the boot, in the far right corner, drivers side, you will see an oval hatch with 4 screws, thats where the wiring connects to your fuel pump, take them out and have a look. But doesn't sound like that, just something to rule out, when you have ignition on ready to start the car you should hear it prime, like a 2-3 second BUZZ.
I sure do get the couple of second buzz, i tend to wait untill the buzz has finished before i start the engine. Its ok at low revs, the problem is when i'm boosting.
What do i need to check on the boost solenoid? Could it be anything to do with the sensors (MAF, Crank or o2)
Cheers

Doesn't appear to be any oil useage, and i don't think it is mis-firing because it only happens on boost.
Does putting the car in test mode cause any damage and how should i do? What would this prove?
Cheers lads, appreciate the help.

It will simply test the solenoid and fans mate. It will prove your boost solenoid works lol...
or could prove it doesnt work lol.. witch would be good right? Try cleaning it with carb cleaner.

coils? Sparkplugs?
could be a number of things mate, best thing to do is get it down to Thwaites (details on our site, discount with a WMI sticker) as to be honest mate it may just be something simple

I dont think the 52 wrx can be put into test mode. But as H as suggested it could be plugs/coil packs. Or it could be overboost/fuelcut, but that would hesitate a little more harshly. Doesnt sound like its anything major. Just check that the vacuum hoses going to boost solenoid are clear of oil.
How did you deal with yours yellowscooby?
I didn't think you could run test mode on my model hence why i asked the question. Its due a service soon, so may just take it to scoobyclinic and see what they say. I've got some contact cleaner i may give the boost selenoid a clean and see if there is any crap in the lines. It aint major, just want to work it out.
Thanks everyone for the advice. Will let you all know if i find anything more out.
Cheers

Are you sure your not full decat, sounds like your overboosting.
Hopley, I use Trench Autos opposite the Nisa garage in Trench for a lot of mechanical stuff if you dont want to wait mate. they're good at identifying stuff as one of the guys has a scoob and they're a pretty good garage. They fitted my entire exhaust system, air induction kit
All the above is sending me dizzy, and im not the OP!!!
If your not shy of a little money, and you know a local mapper. I would suggest getting it plugged in for a re-map and look for the symptoms during mapping. If the mapper is anything like the guy I use (Andrew Carr) he would be able to find the fault on his laptop and if he is prepared to get dirty maybe even fix the issues during the mapping (MAF, clogged Boost Solenoid, Coils, Plugs, Leads, leaking pipe blah blah). The overal outcome of the above issues fixed along with a mapped car will put a smalie on your face - 280bhp ish.
