Default Springs and Things....

Hiya

I have a list of things I want to do to my 2009 WRX, one of whch is to lower it a little and stiffen the suspension as the ride is quite "boaty" and theres is a lot of roll when approaching corners at high speed.

Ive seen various Coilovers, which got me interested but they whack out from £650+ plus fitting. Ive seen some adverts for "PI springs", which seem to do the same thing (according to the advert) and fit my stock parts for a fraction of the cost.

Can someone tell me the difference between the coilover package (which includes springs) against springs on their own. Im not out for track racing, just fast-road, more responsive, bit stiffer, less rolling effect like my old scoobies (which I never modded, but ive got the mod bug!

Ta.

stay away from Pi springs mate, best springs are teins or prodrive/eibach. Coilovers are good but depends what you use the car for, if its just road use with little track use go for springs, if its track use then coilovers

I went for tein coilovers on my 2006 as you can set the amount you want to lower it to the mm, which you can't with springs. Also with coilovers you can adjust stiffness of the shocks for a soft or hard ride. As H said keep away from pi springs, tein or prodrive are good. Changing just the springs won't stop the "boaty" feel and the roll, you'll need a combination of uprated springs, shocks and anti roll bars.

Cheers Stuart. Ive gone for some Eibach springs, 6 to 8 weeks delivery. Great but least I should get hopefully a slightly firmer ride (the 2009 REALLY rolls around corners, am almost sat in the passenger seat lol ) and the lowered look. Thanks for your help guys.
