Just like you get the Queen's wave, and the ruder hand signals, how about we on Scoobynet think up a good wave that only we will recognise without freaking out non-scoobynet bbs members?
Then (if you get the chance, not always) if you want to wave at a Scooby owner and find out if it's worth saying "was that you" on this forum, you could do the special wave or greet or whatever and they'd know they were in the company of a fellow scoobynetter. Or just anyone who knew to look here. Must make sure it's not offensive to people who wouldn't know it though.
Good idea or not? Been tried before?

Well, had a thought, and yes I don't know if people would be able to avoid getting embarassed doing it but how about something based around the 7 stars logo (holding up 7 fingers/combination? sounds cr*p)?
Or doing an 'S' for subaru with your fingers (whichever way round)?
Or some sort of Scooby-Doo thing?, or some rally-inspired thing (like.. leaning out and just before they come past really quickly jumping back in to the bank so you don't get hit - just kidding ;-)
Mind you, you can't do a seven-fingered thing cos that's kind of dangerous while driving (requires two hands). Although you could do the shape of '7' with your thumb and first finger held out at right angles-ish. The wrong way up. Doh....
Anyway... give up or persue further, I leave it up to you. And I'm sure that's not how you spell persue ("to chase") - doesn't look right.

That's a great idea - what about getting whoever looks after the board to make some scoobynet logo'd car stickers! Solves the problem - just look on their windscreen as you go past. No silly waves, no needing to take one hand off the wheel. Flash people could even get their username printed on it below the logo (if that's not a problem for security/privacy.
You can buy the sticker stuff/static-grip stuff to use in inkjet printers I'm sure, not too hard to do.

There's a Berkshire Massive?
Not in Staines are you?
Is there an initiation ceremony?
I like the idea of the Rimmer wave, trouble is how would you do it in the confines of a Scooby? You'd need some kind of special extension (in body colour of course...)
Maybe Sccobysport can come up with something !

Timbo,
We're around Bracknell, Reading and Newbury mainly but the more the merrier We have a meet tonight in Bracknell if you fancy coming - details in the Southern section
The link I posted has details of how to get the stickers, basically you need to mail Phil (Salsa-King) tell him what you're after, they're a quid each, then if you send him a cheque and an SAE he'll send em back to you

Well, I wouldn't expect free stickers from a free site/service, and I wouldn't mind shoving 20/50p in an envelope on some card to get one but if the expense isn't too much it would be nice to have free ones (dunno how much the site is funded by advertising or whether there's any income from it).

Since owning a scoob for over 4 years now... the wave/acknowledgement goes something like this...
Newbie's.... flash lights from a mile away and wave frantically when they get near you
6mth - year.... a brief flash of lights from a few yards with a gentle hand acknowledgement when passing
year - 2 years..... the wave of a hand when passing
over 2 years.... lift one finger (usually index) off steering wheel when passing.
after that..... usually reaches non wave stage as it is no longer exciting
