Thumbs up

Silver impreza, reg X***RRN (that may be wrong as by the time I got home I had forgotten!) Monday 20th Oct 7.50pm ish Winwick Road (A49)
I was driving along Winwick Road in MY03 Leon Cupra and look in the mirror to see an Impreza WRX. I’m no Scooby expert but it definitely had turbo bodywork and wheels consistent with an Xreg classic shape uk scoob turbo. So I floor it and wait and see if he takes the bait, sure enough he follows, we come to the lights at LA Bowl (3 lanes across) and are both at the front but separated by a car in second lane. I am now laughing to myself thinking I am about to get my ar$e well and truly kicked. The lights go green and I don’t even bother going off quickly but then notice he is not going that fast so I thought what the hell. I go for it, he goes for it and I end up edging past further up the road fairly comfortably although I admit I couldn’t have gone any quicker. At the next lights I try to get a look at the scoob to try and make out if it is a turbo, it did have a bit of a Scooby burble exhaust note but not a full-on decat throb. Was this an Impreza Sport turbo replica? Or just a badly driven standard uk turbo? I hope you are on here mate, if you have a turbo you should be ashamed of yourself! I was expecting a real beating and couldn’t believe it when I passed you

Paul

I know who it was.

It was my mates Dad, he borrowed the Scoob to collect his pension.

He is 94, and has poor eyesight, was he wearing a Trillby hat and smoking a pipe?

Oh.......congratulations, on your valliant driving display, pick on someone your own age next time.

Before you ask what he was doing collecting his pension at 10 to eight at night, well he was on his way back to Warrington from the postoffice at Penketh. I know Penketh is only 10 mins down the road, but this will give you some idea of how fast he drives.

not much will shame a scooby if you start like your Mssr Solberg when the lights change...LOTS of revs and dump the clutch, but i like my transmission. Perhaps Silver scoob does too and prefers the favorite A to B to show the ankle snappers how its done.

PS well done SWRT

Nick,
Thats not true, next Ill be guillty by association.

And anyway Postoffice jobs are "so yesterday", you can steal money far easier nowadays, like opening a Subaru Dealership for example!

"Ah yes, stop and tail light bulb Sir, WRX you say, thatll be £34.96 plus VAT."

Having owned an 02 Leon Cupra briefly - 9 months from new, was as much as I could stand - all I can say is, it was:

A) Slow compared to my 3 previous Impreza Turbos and it's replacement - 02 WRX PPP.

B) So badly sorted in the suspension department, as to be dangerous when trying on the average UK road.

C) The most unreliable car I've ever owned (and well documented on CupraNet).

Cheers
