Me in my recently waxed (very shiny and lots of looks) wr blue standard WRX MY02 minding my own business when I come accross a 911 Turbo (black 52 plate) and red convertable Camaro N-reg travelling towards the M25.
Camaro turns off with a lovely roar and 911 pulls in behind me, gave it some beans in the outside and 911 sticks to the boot lid like **** to a blanket, I know 911 turbo's are quicker than most Scoobs but when I pulled over and let him go with my foot still on the floor it just took off and disappeared like a rocket!!!!!!
I flashed and he slowed down and waved but I still can't get over how quick it was. Don't get me wrong, I knew I had no chance against it but thought at least he would pass me at a slower rate, VERY impressed, think I know what I want for Christmas

The Porsche Turbo is a fast car when compared to the WRX and no wonder it left you for dead!!
Porsche:
BHP per ton = 272
0 - 60 3.9 secs
0 - 100 9.4 secs
WRX:
BHP per ton = 161
0 - 60 5.5 secs
0 - 100 15.7 secs

And that's the crucial point. You *can* still get the odd 911 for WRX money, but it would likely be a 1970's model. An affordable 1970's 911 would have 110 to 175bhp and wouldn't easily outrun a WRX because its top speed would be 140 or below.
I've had both, and the Impreza gets my vote hands down on feel as well as on performance for the readies.

Tik, somebody brought in the cost element when it wasn't required so I put paid to that theory by throwing in the Cossie.
It would be never ending as folk here fly off on a tangent opening far too many equations.
As for the twisties though the Cossie would have finished them before the Impreza had started them if there was a straight beforehand.

but the cost element is required. otherwise u could also say that someone saying it ones a sports car and one a family saloon wasn't required.
Otherwise you might as well complain that you just bought a 100 800 polo down the local dodgy garage and are upset you just got whipped by some £40k tvr.
as to cossies v's scoobs? who cares they are both saloons/hatchbacks whatever family cars, not sports cars.
so remind me? what was your point again? oh sorry, u didn;'t have one u were just rambling

Then you buy a Cossie for less money and destroy the Impreza....................

Where is the cossie for less money than that, which is going to do these things?
In your dreams, pal.

Softwizz is right. In my garage right now is a UK300, a classic Guards red 911 Turbo (1989, not my car btw) and my Yam R1. Between the cars the Scoob gets the vote, drivability, cornering, Scoob is much better, Porker Power comes in with a bloody great rush, (*more girls look at the 911 - just, if its pose value your after?) Newer Porsches are much more refined, the classic you can get for around £20k (this one if you want it) or less, if thats what you really want. But I cant help thinking about the joke about Porsches and D1ck size. If its thrills per £ then the R1 has my vote any day. Bye bye Porsche - eat my Akropovic - if you can catch it? :-)
Dave
btw Used to a 4.3 Griffith and that was better drive than the Porsche, and quicker.
