Darren,
I don't think it was me in the car when you flashed; I only drive the thing three or four times a week (usually weekends). This week's been a bit different because I've had a few things done to the car so needed to use it for a number of days on the trot.
If it was me then I simply didn't see you, and if so then I apologise. It's normally me flashing people and ending up feeling ignored/foolish. Not many scoob drivers these days seem to respond to a flash (if you know what I mean!!!). As for the colour - dull wouldn't be a word that most people would use I'm sure! I don't think they'd use such a gentle word. It's normally on the receiving end of one insult or another . I honestly don't give a **** . Even My 22B (at times) attracted quite a lot of negative glances and nasty comments. As for the scene (if there ever was one) I've always felt a little alienated personally. Hey, different strokes and all of that. Do we know each other?
What Scoob do you drive so I know who's a fellow flasher
Paul.

Hello Tony,
It's funny you should mention that because I've been thinking the same recently!
I originally thought it looked 'racy' which is why I ordered it, but living with something is a bit different from fancying the idea from a distance I've had second thought a few times I can tell you.
I keep telling myself 'if you're gonna have a daft car - you might as well go the whole hog'.
Regards, Paul

Talking

Thanks Paul!

The replys as good as a flash (even if it was not you!).

I think your S202 is so good that i'm looking to try and get one! (maybe in a nice dull blue or black LOL). As for knowing each other, i wouldn't know you if you offered me your keys but i was the white WRX following you at NM7 before realising you had your own route!!!

Anyway if NM8 goes ahead or we bump into each other i'll come and say HELLO!

PS Is it better than your old 22B?????

Hello Darren,

I’ll look forward to saying hello @NM8.
Is the S202 ‘better than’ my old 22B………..(thinking)
Depends on your personal preference as to what lights your fire as a car owner/driver.
The 22B is a car that still puts a twinkle in my eye because of what it is and especially the way it looks. It’s raw, stiffly sprung, loud (although not as standard), has very short gear ratios, no ABS and has the STi Quick Steering Rack. Oh, and lots of Torque. It’s a car you have to be intimate with every second, you drive it, which to some can be tiring/irritating, but to others - what driving is all about . It amplifies everything most Scooby owners love about the Impreza. The S202 is exactly the same with one or two significant differences, the way it handles poor road surfaces, it has ABS, the way it looks
If you took a gifted driver (which rules me out ) and made him/her drive a challenging British ‘B’ or ‘Moorland’ road as quickly as possible the S202 would be the quicker car. Most importantly, for the first time since the 22B was released, the experience would be a more involving and rewarding one too. To extract the same speed out of the 22B would turn your hair white!! The 22B has always been, in my opinion a more intimate car than for instance a P1 or RB5 or Evo4/5/6/7. It’s a real occasion just driving one down the road. Unfortunately, the way the car is set up (i.e. very rear biased) on typical wet & bumpy B roads you can never fully attack your chosen line.
It can be pretty scary believe me!!
Because of this it always gets marked down when compared to ‘lesser’ models.

Is the S202 better? Yes

BUT
If you took a dozen Scooby owners and asked them which they would rather have,
They would ‘probably’ all pick the 22B Who could blame them

Regards, Paul

Thumbs up

Thanks for that Paul

I think the S202 if the way forward for me, given finding one and funds. I love the 22B but as with most things i look forward and not back.

Regards

Cool

Hi Paul,

I also find that the 22b is sometimes scary and I need to click the diff one or two setting up to be happy with the car. You say about torque I almost lost the 22b in second gear from a standing start this was with the diff on the normal settings. I found that by using the diff the car is totally different and as you say become intimate with the driver.

Hello Richard,
Most Impreza drivers would find it difficult to comprehend how that 2.2l combined with it's unusual transmission split can transform the way the 22B feels from the drivers seat.
I remember one occasion when accelerating away from traffic light on a dual carriageway (on a damp road surface) the car was spinning its rear wheels in first, second and 'third' gears. I wasn't actually driving that hard. You definitely need your whits about you driving the Uber scoob. It's a bit of an animal the 22B Lovely!
How long have you had your car Richard, are you the Richard that bought my 22B?

Paul
