Jari-Matti Latvala is one of Penti's proteges, he was at the Tempest Stages a week or so ago where he won the clubmans's event outright.

Extremely exciting to watch especially at the first corner of a stage where the left foot hasn't quite got used to braking rather than using the clutch.

Jari was driving a Clio earlier in the year on the Quinton stages, Penti was sat on the same corner as I was reading an F1 magazine.

Andy Burton's car sounds awesome especially when it echos across a valley.

Roll on BTRDA 2003.

Editted to say that Jari was the only driver to pass me with glowing brake discs on SS9

Yep I was there,

After a string of dry and dusty rallies the Welsh weather really came into its own.

I spectated on SS3 and SS9. SS3 was an especially long wait after the field got delayed (anyone know what happened?).

SS9 was superb being run in the dark, ended up walking a mile into the stage and it was possible to see the cars tackling the start of the stage across the mini 'valley'. Finally left at 8pm.

Getting changed in the car on SS9 was interesting the wind was so strong that I could open the boot and the drivers side doors and no rain came into the car

Had a look at the results website and the zero car won the rally

Top three were:

0 Mikko Hirvonen/Miikka Antila Subaru Impreza WRC B13 1:02:47
14 Jari-Matti Latvala/Carl Williamson Mitsubishi Lan B13 1:05:20 2:33
1 Andy Burton/John H Roberts Peugeot Cosworth B13 1:05:24 0:04

Mike Jones must be a little gutted to loose the championship having lead it for most the year.

Cool

Well, I was there too & sort a shed load of scoobs. I was servicing & there were a number with crews there, as well as loads on the circuit

Speccy'd SS8 @ the hairpin & counted 6 or so in the trek upto from the mill car park, inc someone with a 555 plate.

Anyone see the Evo7 come off there?

Drove all the way back to Cambs afterwards & didn't see another one

I recon you are right too.... No 14 was going so well and really the only guy all day to splat us with mud and rocks every time we saw him.... jeez he had that car well setup for some of the corners.

Also standing next to Penti Arikkala at Great Orme and a bunch of his chums... guess he 'manages' one or both of the Flying Finns !

That motor of Andy Burtons sounds soo sweet.... a proper rally car I recon... a la Gp B style.

yep, i was there rushing around between servicing car 9, Blakemans Sausages Escort Cossie and spectating in my STi5 TypeRA V-Ltd.

I was in the said field and did said churning up of said field with my diffs locked for added churning effect.

I saw a lovely UK300 on the Orme, he followed me back down into the town. Saw a few STi Type UK's and tons of Impreza Turbo's.

check members gallery for my photos.
