as above. took my motor to the garage today to have them investigate a noise but with an hours worth of driving...NOTHING. aint that just great. but, however when it was on the ramp, they did show me that both my front driveshafts have loads of play in them. the guy said this is not very common at all, but hey, thats just my luck. i always thought the whining noise i had from the rear was from my tyres as they have a weird tread and the noise changed from surface to surface on the road but apparently it is my rear diff. i don't have a clue what diff i need so all comments/suggestions more than welcome. PLEASE people, i need decent parts as with all of us that the moment, we don't have money to keep throwing away. thanks for your time guys.

I have front driveshafts £40 for both, and rear diff £100
off my sti v4 1998
diff is a 4.444
so you need to find out what ratio yours is.
