STi V5 Type R
#1
After finally being paid out for my last Scoob I am in the market for a replacement.
The model wanted is an STi V5 Type R, ideally in sonic blue but other colours considered. Must have been looked after and be in mint condition.
Can anyone help me out?! Im very bored of my current run about and am looking forward to join the scooby gang once more.

You dont really want a type R
They have inherent gear box problems, and 1st gear is bordering on useless. and the front/rear diff is a gimmick as is the waterspray
The 4 door saloon is also, more practical, looks nicer and handles better than the type R.

Been off the board for quite a while. But back on now....
I have an STi5 Type R. Not for sale, sorry..
But to set the record straight:
Gearbox - Only prob I have encountered is the "4th gear syncro ring issue", which I need to get sorted. (Can someone advise if they have fixed this under warranty!)
1st Gear is not too much use, but from a standing start, if you catch the Turbo as its spinning and launch, it can give you a grin .
Front/Rear Diff - Don't use it much! Only used it last year when it was icey to give a more proportionate(!) split in power delivery to the front and rear wheels. Normally, just leave it off. - Bit of a gimmick.
Waterspray - Does work!. I thought this was a bit gimmicky, but having had a bit of fun down some country lanes this summer when the temp was incredible, by leaving the I/C on auto she was performing smoother than without. (Colder denser air and all that stuff!)
Practical - Bags of space in the back of the Type-R - More than most BMW3s etc... Boot - acres of space. Got three sets of golf clubs + trolleys and bags etc in boot this summer.
There you go... No sale, but some info...

I am the owner of a STi4 Type-R - again sorry not for sale currently, but perhaps in the future ?
The centre diff, I think is a pure gimmick, serves very little practical use. This leads me to my second point, that I am still debating whether non-ABS or ABS is better ?
As for the shape, 4 door vs 2 door coupe - I think there is no contest !!

Check out WWW.Warrender.co.uk its in bolton so not too far away hopefully, heres one i prepared earlier
1998 S SUBARU Impreza STi , Sonic Blue, Gold Alloys, P1 Spoiler, Stereo, CAT1 Alarm, Air Vent in Roof, £17995 Warrender Sports and Performance Cars Tel: 01204528800 (T) Within 15 miles
Its not a type R but its still an STI, if thats what your after then its probably more practical than a type R (and you still get the quickshift, water spray etc but no center diff switch thing (and unless your a rally driver you probably wont need it)
Hope that helps
