I currently have a standard 240 ps ECU on my 1994 WRX and am looking for a 260/275/280 ps ECU (I currently run on 100 octane fuel so a Jap market ECU is not an issue).

Alternatively, looking for advice on an ECU upgrade that will plug straight in if there is such a thing that will give more bhp and allow me to run on 97/98 octane fuel.

Goldeneye,

Thanks for this.

So have I got this right.

Check the code I have on my ECU to see that it is compatible. Buy the "chip" and is it a simple matter of then just plugging it in ?.

Do I also have to do an ECU reset.

It recommends a knocklink, where is the best place to get one of these, how much are they and are they easy to fit ?.

Cheers

The best thing to do is email Scott who's advert it is,and he'll give you all the info you need.Knocklinks are available from Jap Innovations and the sensors from Pentland components.Check the group buy thread in General for contact details.I think you've missed the group buy though.

Le Mans,

I can't recommend the Scoobyecu enough. I had a generic set of chips which improved driveability, increased my rev limiter etc.. I was pretty happy with this, but due to having an STi V3/4 block and 440cc injectors I opted for a custom map of the said ECU (I think cost is £300 if Pavlo supplies, fits and maps the Scoobyecu).

Well, what can I say! Apart from many humble thanks to Pavlo who spent 8 hours with me yesterday mapping the thing, it is phenominal. We recorded 1.3bar (18.85 PSI) boost held throughout the rev range. Its like driving someone elses car - it never pulled so strongly before.

I absolutely love the way the power comes on and keeps coming as you climb the rev range. Ran into an Evo 6 on the way homw that would have chewed me up and spat me out prior to the mapping, but had him appluading the way I sat comfortably behind no matter how much right boot he gave it! Go for it!

Kev,

Because I live in the Channel Islands it is not practical to take the car for a custom map with the car so I will have to send the ECU to see what can be done.

I would have thought that I currently run about 260bhp (standard 240bhp + HKS airfilter and TSL Group N exhaust) and am hoping the rechip will give me about 280-300bhp, i.e. about another 20-40bhp. I would not want more than this as I do not want to loose reliability or have problems. I know STI's can take more bhp but not WRX's without upgrading the internals.

Anyone else comment on this upgrade ?.

I am also looking for a spare/back up WRX ECU for my 1994 WRX as well if anyone out there has one.

Stu,

fair point - having upgraded my bottom end to STi i can't comment too much on reliability over 300 bhp, except to say that the generic chip seems to work fine with the WRX internals.

I'm running a scooby ecu and it works a treat. It's not a custom map but works very well.

wanted,

Mike Tuckwood was praising your car yesterday - says it has much pace and he was impressed. do you know what boost your Scoobyecu is set to run at and what BHP your car is outputting?

There is a rolling road day at Powerstation on Saturday if you fancy it? Didn't spot your name on the list. Several of us are meeting at Donington Services at 7am for the run down.

David how you doing m8.

The map that you gave me seems to be outdoing 300bhp+ cars. As you know i was thinking about getting another re-map, but f*ck that, the cars running sweet. The map seems to suite it well.

Kev,
I don't know what power i'm running but approx 300bhp
