Nice car that and it being a fresh import should be rust free, I have been in contact with the guy and put a offer in, not far off what he wants for the car so might go down and have a look next weekend, My brother wants to see if there is anything else out there before going to have a look!!!
The seller said its a Version 6 STi, but it has no V6 front splitter and it doesn't have clutch start, which im pretty sure my old Version 6 STi you had to press the clutch to start the car(Thought this was how you can tell difference between V5 and V6)???
Defo a V5 as its also got a flat blade spoiler along with things you mentioned, get the seller to check the build date on the seatbelt tag amd the applied model code
Wow didn't realise how much they are worth tbh . Is that car at a premium with it being a fresh import ?
Priced about right I'd say , classics are slowly increasing in value as more and more are not standing up well to the test of time , and seeing some of them are 20+ years old now they truly are becoming a classic
I sold a 70k miles Version 6 STi back in 2010 for £3,3k and the car was mint with some nice power mods, Im shocked myself how much the classic STi's are worth now, Even saw a grey Version 5 STi on Ebay for sale for nearly £9k, and it had been re-shelled using a 1999 Sport shell, lucky enough for me its my brother who is after a classic STi and not me!!
He has a budget of £6k, so im wondering if that would get him one????
I might have to sell mine. Due to me probably losing my job in the new year. Sucks. But I have a 1999 Impreza Sti Version 6. It does have a little rust on the rear arches but the bottom is clean. Let me know if your interested as I'll get some phtotos and some specs up.
My brothers budget is £5,250 at the moment, He does have a 200+bhp MK4 Golf GTi Turbo he needs to sell so his budget will go up if he struggles to buy one for £5,250 at the moment.
We did view a white Bug STi the weekend 1 of 6 Type UK models(supposedly) looks amazing on the pictures and was up for £5,500, but the paintwork was terrible and looked like most of it had been painted with a rattle can, which was a big let down and the 6 speed box had been swapped for a 5 speed(we knew before viewing), all the vin/model numbers come back as a UK STi, the guy said my brother could have it for £4,300 as we walked away but it needed a lot of money spending on it unfortunately.
sell the golf and go from there would be better, £5k is the bottom end of the sti band so gonna be hard to find a decent one
Thats what ive told him, problem is the prices have gone up on all Impreza's in the last 3-4 years, like I already put early on I sold a Version 6 STi for £3,3k in 2010 with 70k miles on the clock and I struggled at advertised price of £4k!!
No longer looking as he bought a car now, After trawling through Pistonheads/Ebay/Gumtree/etc over the last few months for a Impreza STi in his price range he has given up and bought a different car altogether!!

Thanks for the replies and messages!!
hope you took him outside and had a word with him, then laughed at him for buying the wrong car

I think the reality of buying a STi for under £6k has hit him hard enough, I guess if you want a decent Impreza STi you got to pay for it, and no matter how hard you look the so called bargains are cheap for a reason!!
