Dan-m8,
Remember I had the same problem? Its no good replacing with the same ECU, the early ones are buggy. Power Eng replaced mine with what I believe was the equivalent of a 96 ECU. Cost fitted was about 700 squid.
Ran 265 bhp on their road and hasnt missed a beat since.
Cheers
Andy

Stealth: I was gonna look to get one out of a 95+ WRX anyway, cause Merv at PE said they all break at somepoint anyway.
Kwakman: Yeah, I chatted to Merv about the reprogramming etc, but at 400quid I can't afford it. ( you are the guy with the Silver WRX that got 267 on Sat???? )
DaveR: Sounds good. What are the details. Google didn't get any useful hits with "z4 ECU" and other search patterns. 120quid is around my price
