Convoy & Brean Rally Stages 26th Jan - Full Details!
We are arranging a run-out & convoy/gathering at “Brean Rally Stages” on SATURDAY 25th January, which will include not just us but members of Cymraeg/Bath & Bristol Scoobys!.
We are expecting 20+ cars for this outing!
This is a great opportunity for a casual club run out with other Subaru’s, mixed in with some great ‘easy access’ rallying throughout the day, as well as socialising with other members of the Club. Full details are below:
The Rally takes place at Brean Leisure Park, with all the stages running at that location. This affords easy ‘one stop’ spectator access, (rather than spending hours chasing rally stages that are often many miles apart or require three mile walks into remote areas). Pit access is also spectator friendly.
The entry fee is reasonable at just £5 per head, plus £5 per car for parking.
The Event is also being attended by members of Cymraeg/Bath & Bristol Scoobys, and as such we are very pleased that we are joining forces for this event to make the day more enjoyable for all. I would personally like to extend thanks the other clubs involved who have been very helpful in making this happen (we are also talking about some more joint ventures later in the year )
“The gathering” will commence with South Wales Clubs joining at Homebase, Beaufort Park, Thornwell, Chepstow (NP16 5TY) between 7:40 & 8:00. The ‘Boyo’s will then cross the Old Severn Bridge and take the A-roads to Bristol (22 miles).
Next collection point will be The Kings Head Pub, Bedminster Down, Bristol (BS13 8AE) between 8:30 & 9:00 where members from Bristol & Bath Scooby’s will join. Collectively depart for A-roads to Brean (25 miles).
The Rally is located at Brean Leisure Park, Coast Road, Brean Sands, Burham-on-Sea, (TA8 2QY).
Proposed Route. Rather than post the actual route on this site all cars from Chepstow onwards can obtain a printed route (look out for CX53 PZT & or shout for Dave_T). Not quite ‘pace notes’ but a set of directions & times etc to assist should we get accidentally split up.
After the event we are also hoping that ‘as many of you as possible’ will join us in a short drive back to Weston-Super-Mare for a “group park-up on the seafront” (depart Brean at 4:00pm), ending the day with a traditional seaside fish’n’chip supper. Maybe a walk on the Pier, some chat & dare I mention the go-carts on the Pier !
Usual Q&A, (or before someone asks):
1. The sport is outdoors and in January, therefore an array of suitable clothing would be recommended.
2. There is an array of Subaru’s entered for the Event. In total around 100 cars are competing.
3. Food & drink outlets are available within the Event.
4. The time at the Rally is yours to enjoy in whatever form you prefer. Stick with other members if you like, talk about Scoobies to your hearts content, sod off on your own. Basically there are no hard & fast rules.
The Rally entry is full (100 cars). 14 Impreza’s are competing which includes 4 WRC cars!
A full Rally entry list is now available to view at: http://www.crswrallies.co.uk/PDF/Brean2014Entry_V1.pdf

We understand that this might not be 'everyones cup of tea' and respectfully we cannot please everyone. We hope to see as many club members supporting this event as possible, but may we ask that people that are not participating avoid posting remarks such as “love to but working”, or "too far", only as it floods the thread with info that is not really relevant to those attending. I'm sure you understand this

But you did also ask people not to comment if they could not attend as this would clog the thread.

We are up for this but will give a definite yes closer to the time mate, car has cost a small fortune this month so dont want to say a definite yes just yet but at the moment its a 80% we will be there lol we have told the kids we are going and they are excited as they miss their family trips to rallying and car shows. So unless the car doesn't throw up anymore suprises its all good.

IMPORTANT UPDATE ON THIS EVENT.
The original plan of meeting up with other clubs has had a slight change.
Somerset Scoobys are now making their own way to the Event at a much earlier time. The result of this would have meant that we would need to re-arrange with significantly earlier start times.
Rather than expecting you all to be out of bed at some ungodly hour, we (SWS, Cymraeg & Bath & Bristol) have decided to stick with our original plan.
This will mean that we will not be travelling with Somerset to the Event. We still expect numbers for ‘our’ convoy to be in excess of 20 cars, (plus we hope that many of the Somerset Crew will also join us at Weston at tea time).
Please also note that as a result of the above there have also been a few amendments to the adopted route, meet points & times (which are now slightly later)!
REVISED ARRANGEMENTS
“The gathering” will commence with South Wales Clubs joining at Homebase, Beaufort Park, Thornwell, Chepstow (NP16 5TY) between 7:40 & 8:00. The ‘Boyo’s will then cross the Old Severn Bridge and take the A-roads to Bristol (22 miles).

That being said, all of the above sounds like 'fun'. Maybe a Scooby camping session one weekend when it gets warmer??

Probably cheaper as well, when you factor in the obligatory kebab/curry & taxi fare ('cos your too sh#t faced to walk). One new shirt as the one you wore last night is stained, plus flowers for the Mrs to make up for the complete ar#e you made of yourself.

I'm sure there will be some events later on in the year where a session will be included

Right chaps.
1. I really shouldn't have to say this as you are all flaming adults, but.....
It is January so please bring appropriate clothing. The forecast is looking 'wet & windy' although they are not always right...If it is, well.....
a) At least it won't be cold
b) Adds "an air of difficulty" to the Rallying
c) It still beats the sh#t out of "shopping with the Mrs"!
2. The Chepstow meet point (for those that either do not have SATNAV or access to a map/Googlemaps etc...
a) Travelling from Newport on the M48 come off at Junction 2 (just before the Old Severn Bridge).
b) At the motorway roundabout take the second exit (signed Thornwell), after 500 metres Homebase is on your left!
For everyone else its Homebase, Beaufort Park, Thornwell, Chepstow (NP16 5TY).
Please be prompt (7:40 & 8:00).
I have full details of the route printed out ready for everyone on arrival. There is only one other stop (to collect Bath & Bristol Scoobs), then its straight on to Brean. I have done the instructions 'just in case' we get split up...
Please make sure you grab a set off me when you arrive at Chepstow! CX53PZT
Looking forward to seeing ya all.
