Default Simtec V3 ECU

Hi all, further to my earlier thread this week I've seen a Simtec ECU for sale on here and thinking of buying it?? As said I'm pretty much in the dark about this sort of thing. What's your thoughts on this ECU and is there any questions I should be asking the seller??

Thanks in advance
Jay

I would suggest talking to a mapper before you buy it, find out the model and see just how much it's going to cost to map it on top of buying it.

You can get the ESL board for yours which is road/roller mappable these days plus allow you to go MAF-less as well I believe.

That was going to be my next question, would I be better off with ESL?? Will this give me an Anti lag option??
By the time I get the Simtec remapped to suit my car then it will cost as much as the ESL anyway. The problem is there's so many options
Alcatec is over £900 and not fancying stretching to that at the mo.

As far as I am aware I believe the ESL is about £550 all in but you would need to check that.... I would not think it will give you the anti-lag option but is that really necessary.

I guess if having to pay and extra £400 for it then I'm sure I could live without. I've dropped another pm to Simon and see what he can advise. The seller of the Simtec has told me that its 3 and a half years old and will need updating by a mapper?? So I'm guessing the both will work out roughly the same price for either.

I had a Simtec in my old UK classic running a forged 2.5, with Anti-lag, Launch Control, Mafless and 2 switchable fuel maps, had mine fitted and mapped by JGM and it ran great no problems at all.

I spoke to Simon via pm and by the time I bought it, sent it to him and got it updated and mapped it would be around the same as Alcatec and not fancying spending 900 odd quid at the mo I'm going with ESL instead.
