Default Seat Leon FR Tuning.....

Evening all,

My good friend Max (who a few of you know) has gone a bought very smart White Seat Leon Cupra 170 tdi FR.

It's a really pleasant drive, picks up pace from nothing and handles very well, BUT...

As happens to us car enthusiasts, he wouldn't mind a bit more power out of it, so would like a remap on the OE Ecu, to try and safely extract some more power/torque out of the engine.

So, any suggestions on whod be capable of carrying out such a job? Would the usual Subaru mappers we use be prepared to do this do you think? Ideally he'd like to have the car rolling roadbed before and after , too establish what results have been achieved.

Indigo gt were my first thought, as they have a RR and I am aware that Anthony maps Evo's and subarus, anyone know if he does the Dervs aswell?

As always, thanks for any feedback.

Rob

Plenty of "plug-in and go" stuff about for the VAG engines. If it's under warranty he just unplugs it.

Job done.

orite mate when I had my S3 I used angel tuning felt the difference after the map. My mate has the older fr got his mapped by these also and can really notice it with his. I may be wrong but think they got a place in Caerphilly also heard that they have a rolling road there, so would be worth giving them a call also they do do some good deals, at the time I payed 275 my mate had a special voucher so he had either 25% or 50%.
Hope this is of some help, all the best Greg.

I think that Race Dynamix (Duncan) also maps diesel cars now as well, he is mobile so can come to Brecon to map the car.

I'm only going on what I've read but it has to be worth a PM to him as he is often in Wales.

no panic captain, I'm here to stay with the Scoob, not gonna lie though, as a daily driver and something for a weekend fun drive it really does tick all the boxes, and is a lovely looking car as well.

Thanks for the linky, I think though he would ideally like a 'bespoke' map as such, due to wanting a RR test before and after, and also he has a slight fear of the plug and play ones and the EML light illuminating!

Thanks for that Greg, sounds like they would definitely be worth a call, especially if they have a RR on site. Do you have any idea of what sort of power gains you achieved? Do you think 200bhp would be a realistic expectation? Forgot to add its a 62 plate car, with low miles so it should be fairly close (if not bang on) the power it left the factory with. £275 sound a descent price to be fair. Thanks again mate.

Yes for sure Ty, he has a good reputation on here as well, so as you say definitely worth a pm. The only thing would be he wouldn't be able to carry a RR in the back of the car with him, having said that I'm sure max could run the car over to indigo for that side of things.

Max had mentioned last night also that apparently there's a place that specialises in VAG mapping/tuning somewhere down by Motorpoint Newport, anybody know of them/used them?

Thanks all , Rob

Indigo-GT are now "Revo" authorised mappers now Revo are the way to go with VAG's I know its Seat but there the same engine's as all VAG cars.

I had my S3 mapped with Revo software and the results were amazing, 220 in standard form after the map it was 268, also had my Mrs VW beetle mapped with Revo and that was the same excellent results basically a golf GTI engine, came with port so you could chose different maps eg standard or race. Also used as immobiliser which allowed you to lock the ECU.

Last time I went there it was all pretty good stuff from VAG. Most with high mileage but very good history, poss ex fleet cars. Seems better now though.

Yea worth a call, but I might be totally wrong if they do have a place in Caerphilly and if they have a RR, one phone call wont hurt in finding out though lol well im not sure on the figures that I had out of them from a map or of my mates fr because we never had them on the RR but with the fr it was alot more noticeable the before and after!!
I would deffinitely think his fr would be able to gain the 30bhp to achive the 200bhp mark. Would get alot more torque out of it though I would imagine with it being an oil burner If it were me with an fr for instance I would most prob be giving angel tunning but as alot of the other guys can show you there are plenty of other respectable vag mappers out there !!

All the best on making the Greg.

Thanks for all the feedback guys!

Well we took a little spin this afternoon to see Anthony at Indigo Gt, I think it's fair to say young Max is sold on the idea.

Anthony said the car, after a stage one remap (after first removing and unlocking the ecu) the should hit the 210bhp mark, and an estimated 260 (or 360-can't remember!)ft/lbs of torque, which should liven the car up no end. He also mentioned a newish device made by revo, where you plug in this 'SPS' device into the ecu, which allows you to switch between the upgraded map or the stock.

All in all, a very worthwhile trip over, max is going to do a bit more research first, but more than likely he'll go for the SPS device and a remap with RR before and after, it goes bloody well as it is so I think with some more horses it'll be able to give your regular hot hatch clio 172etc a good run for their money.

Thanks again all
