What are the 'dots' on the backs of the mirrors? They look like tiny indicators?

followed a 62 plate civic just now , or could it be silly black alloys or the rear view mirror , mine is a panel van and the mirror is there, the dots on the door mirrors are lights reflecting from somewhere.

Police wagon
Look at the back of the mirrors,one of the salesmen were behind me just now going up penllergaer hill, think he was giving me a heads up as to what's coming to get us.... Lol
And he lit it all up like a Christmas tree and I'm like **** where are all the lights coming from....
Then as he got closer he turned them off and then on again....
