Would the gearbox and diff from one of these fit any impreza or is it limited to the widetrack versions only?

Yes! As long as they are fitted together to match! The rear driveshafts may be too long for a Classic or early Newage tho! The one I had was from a Hawkeye and fitted Lee's Catalunya just fine

think you may need starter motor and flywheel and a few other minor bits

will fit fine and can use standard starter, the six speed that i had with dccd out of an 06 wrx sti had drive shafts that were male and plugged in to box but converted box to fit my drive shafts by fitting stub axles and new seals in the box up front so look for a box with stubs already in as some have them some haven't
