What to buy?

What to buy?
Evening all I currently have a classic running 350ish bhp and I may be coming into a few quid soon and I am trying to decided if I stick with my classic and spend the £6-8k on that or buy a different scooby if the latter what can you guys suggest? I fancy a wrx sti but not sure what one to buy or avoid and what year car does the more expensive car tax bracket fall into. Must mention when I buy another Scooby I will want to modify it to get more power and improve handling etc but I want the best possible car to start with so hopefully I can avoid a gearbox change etc. thanks in advance I look forward to your suggestions

I'd test drive a Newage STi if I was you, you could get a nice MY05 with low ish miles for that or maybe even a Hawk STi with slightly more! It maybe worth looking for a JDM Blobeye, Twinscroll turbo and more toys
Failing that, if you didn't like the way they drive, sell yours, buy a Type R and Forge the engine

Also tax is more expensive from the hawk onwards (MY06) although that said as merv said above try the jdm for that money, plus if u sell yours you got extra cash ontop to play with and for that money you should find a lovely example that may already have the nice bits done to it, plus if you get an import hawk from 06> the tax stays at the 230 marker, its the uk cars that is effected within the tax band, typical of out government really

I think VED is the least of the considerations when your running big bhp. VC's Hawkeye Spec C RA was on a 55 plate and the early Hawks's are in the lower bracket anyway. The UK Hawk's and hatches have had HG issues, something to consider before buying one.
Not heard of a JDM 2l or 2.5l going pop. If your going big then you may have to consider the box on an un-modded Classic and put in a 6 or start with a Newage and improve the drivetrain and engine that already handle some quite big numbers. As Merv said have a go in a big bhp Newage before you decide.
Why are you chasing big numbers?

I've heard of a JDM 2.0 engine going pop, but in my case I'm 99.99% positive that the fault was caused externally and not an engine fault as such.
Try a JDM newage twin scroll if you want the best of all world's ie virtually no lag and a strong engine that can be red lined if you so want, along with the slightly shorter JDM gearing it makes for a very fast car.
I would say that but I am very heavily biased in favour of JDM especially twin scroll cars.

Type R STI near standard specs, running 330/330. Perfect for everyday fun if that is what you are after ........
I nicely run this
Other than that go spec C...
If not that, go fully forged classic
or go jdm hawk
or go RA-R

Yeah you can lmfao.
BUT reply in plain English (don't give me the dyslexic crap cos I have dyslexia) and not text speak, or are you a gangsta rappa wid yo cruuu??
To the Op have a go of a few on test drive and see what you like.
You can throw money at any car, depends what your preferences are. As if you want a lot of power and have the available cash there are newer quicker cars, so up to you really.
I just love the sound and feel and looks of the Classic Impreza, and knowing that your in control of what the car does, instead of computers in the Evo, as they go wrong and because your so used to them working you will crash them. Newage are a nice car, but they don`t quite do it for me, but the Hatch is growing on me I will admit.
But as said its all down to what you prefer really.

Smigz, thanks for your opinion, I do like Evo's as I'm a petrol head and like quick cars. But I would just miss the burble of my Scooby and with all due respect I did say another Scooby not an Evo otherwise I would be on the MLR site. Plus as with Scooby's Evo's are not the quickest cars around however much we like to think they are.

Nothing wrong with subarus, ive had both and loved both of them, both have the pro's and con's and no performance cars are holding there value at the moment!!
BTW to the OP, If u would be interested in an EVO i know of a mint 500bhp EVO 8 MR that will be for sale in a few weeks
