Default ****!! Just lost 1st, 2nd, and 3rd!!

Not having lots of luck tbh, but all was fine driving home.
Accelerated from 2nd into 3rd and the box shat itself, and first initial thought was bottom end, so foot on the clutch and noise didn`t get less.
Tried to change down and physically couldn`t select anything lower than 4th, would go into 3rd but does nothing, and 1st and 2nd will not engage. So limped home in 4th and 5th and just parked her up.

Doubt I`m going to manage to fix this in time for the rolling road day on the 14th, but I`ll give it a go. Will take the time to take the engine out and replace the manifolds, and rocker gaskets, and then change the box. I`ve 2 weeks off now, so looks like my 2 weeks are going to be busy provided I can get the car up my drive.

Pi**ed off is an understatement. And no this isnt an April fool (wish it was).

You seem to be the grim reaper of gearboxes! Hope you can sort it fairly easily.

Yeah but first was consuming fluids like Oliver Reed consumed Alcohol. But still works lol. The second was an incorrect rear diff, JDM on a UK box so wound it up.
This is my first to destroy gears and was changing from 2nd to 3rd, and its 3rd thats gone.

Nah wouldn`t go that far, my old TY752VB3FA is in my garage still, it`s gears are ok just loses fluids. And my last one was fitted to my mates car after he blew his 2nd gear, all they did was change my front diff.

If you want to go halves on it then yeah lol, but currently not in the position to afford a 6-speed. Maybe something to look into though.

Just after you've got it back as well. You've obviously upset someone in power to end up with luck like this!

I know six speeds are costly but it sounds like its costing you a fair bit replacing 5 speeds.
You know the boxes are weak and will break again.

Probably because it`s not been used tbh, but *** happens lol.

Yeah have managed to track down a replacement, so hopefully will be able to get it up my drive so I can do it. If not I`ll have to winch it!!

But going to take the time to fit my tubular manifolds, rocker gaskets, oil pressure/temp senders, and do a full service. So not all doom and gloom. And I`ve got 2 weeks off to do it!!

Erm as it stands £350. So got a few to go before I get to the price of a 6-speed.

If your going through boxes at this rate something is clearly wrong, you should not be breaking boxes running 260 bhp I know loads running way more than that quite happily.
It has to be either your fitting worn boxes to start with or something wrong with the way they have been fitted.
The other reason of course could be your driving style, no box however strong will put up with abuse all the time, eventually something will give!!
When you fit this new box put some tidy oil in it as you won't know when it was last changed and this area is often neglected.

Erm original box the car came with was f***ed, it lost fluids like no tomorrow.
The second box was a UK TY754 that was fitted with a JDM rear diff (see the problem there?), so the front diff went.
This is its replacement which the third gear has gone, so all in all not really down to driving, power, or anything like that.
Just some plain bad luck.

When this goes in it will have some decent box oil and filled to just under the upper mark on the box dip-stick, and then replaced after 500miles like my last one did. Its just a bit of bad luck as I said, nothing major, or anything else sinister.

I will be fitting the new box as I didn`t do the last ones, so I will take my time and if I have any questions I`ll be asking on here.

When I get a full-time job (if I can get in doing Class1 driving), I`ll be putting aside for a 6-speed but until then it stays 5-speed.

I did notice that 3rd had become slightly crunchy, but once or twice, not all the time, but just must have let go in a big way. Will know more when I strip it down, but until then get the new box Wednesday and I`ll crack on.
