Is this right and how are they registered as gl if there turbo ...if so it gives me the oppurtunity in the future to a get a turbo with cheap insurance ???? Advice please

Do you not think your insurance would be null and void, if you required it for any reason?

These cars were registered wrongly, in the case of imports, but shouldn't be insured wrongly as well.

No cheap way out of owning a turbo I'm afraid.

I did it when I was 18 for two years on my first Impreza. Insurance companies ask you state what is on the log book and if it says nothing then that's not your fault.

No guts no glory as they say.

what says on log book isnt your fault iv had a few scoobys mostly imports and nearly all have been wrong v5 wrx stated as gl and sti stated as wrx, when asked the reg with insurance you tell them and thats all you have to do,alot of imports have the wrong details on the v5 must be some problem with imports when the get into docks for vic check and thats when model of car gets mixed up.

Ignorance is no excuse in the eyes of the law, how could you plead that you don't know the difference between a GL and a WRX?

You make the declaration of what model your car is when insuring as you have to confirm the details online or confirm over the phone that the details are correct.

Your insurance won't be worth the paper it's written on if you have a problem.

Actually they won't value it as anything as your insurance will be invalid and you'll probably lose your license for driving without insurance.

Some astonishing attitudes here You hit someone with your "GL" insured car and they are faced with paying for it from their insurance as you dont have any.

Its exactly the same as not having insurance

Well I'm glad I asked and glad there are a lot of opinions , it's just that a lot of people are using this as a selling tactic for people who think they won't get insurance ...more than likely I will keep to me sport for a while and then in a few years time when the no claims go up I will get genuine sti .... Not worth the trouble I suppose ...keep to the law

Dont think its worth the aggro mate if the **** were to hit the fan, im sure there are a lot of us who have ''forgotten'' to disclose certain mods on our cars, but driving a turbo'd car which is insured as a sport is a chance i wouldn't take.
inxurance companies aint dull, and they/the plod would throw the book at you if you happened to get involved in an accident.
give it a few years and build your NC up and drive without constantly worrying about ''what if?''

Just my opinion, its up to you at the end of the day and its your licesnce.
