So there me and the mrs were travelling back from the Rhondda visiting family this evening, heading back towards merthyr from Pontypridd end, and we come across another scoob (p reg, blue stickered up classic) going quite steady (approx 50mph) so we gently go around him. Come to the last roundabout (the one that takes you back up to Currys, asda etc) and he's up my ****.
So i gives it to the car, he tries his hardest but i leave him for dust, slow up then for him to catch up and around he goes, thinking to myself (mrs telling me not to give it beans again) that'll be it. he slows up on next roundabout, i follow and he signals out the window for me to pass. Around i go, ignoring the mrs. and going hard in 2nd gear, go to change to 3rd, niothing happens and gearstick is loose in my hand!!
I then coast to the nearest lay-by, indicating, hazzards on etc, to see what the crack is. Thinking to myself this guy might go to the next roundabout, to a u-ie and see if he could help.
Fair enough he dosen't, thought he may have been in a rush and didnt have time or whatever, but while i was investigating he drove down the opposite side on two occassions!!!
Im thinking all sorts, gearbox ****ed etc...as it happens the gearstick had simply come out of its plastic housing in the c.console, after half hour or so of swearing i get it in and home we go.
Seems to be something missing though that should be holding this plastic housing in position
Anyway im sure this is an isolated incident, but surely you wouldv'e though he may have just had 5mins to help, i know if i was in his position (even if the said car wasnt a subaru) i know i would of helped in any possible way i could!!
Rant over sorry if ive bored you all, u know what its like!!!
