Arrow What a weekend!!!

Just thought id let you all know about my "interesting" weekend

Starts off 6am Saturday morning, everything is fine as i leave the house to head to Glynneath to meet the guys for the run up to Prodrive
After filling my belly we were off Just after we meet Lee (catalunya172) we headed off, after about 10 miles i get flashed from behind by Rich (rsedwards) so pulled in and wondered what the problem was,he then said i had steam coming from the car After looking at it the water had come from the overflow pipe behind the passenger side headlight. All seems fine at this point, engine temp normal However, about 5 miles up the road my engine temp rockets up Immediately stop and drive gently to Waitrose to inspect. On stopping noticed my car had relived itself over their forecourt So after a bit of deliberation it was thought to be the thermostat and seal was fubard So the decision was made to stick a bottle of radweld in to see if the leak stopped, but no joy So i told the guys to carry on and i would drive down to Keith Price and try and buy a new Thermostat and fit it. However, arriving at Keith Price at around 7.40am it was found that they dont open till 9am So the long wait began. Then they opend and the fun began 1 Thermostat purchased,Justin very kindly lent the yard behind for me to work in After much swearing and scraping of knuckles myself and my dad had the new one in. Time to top up the water and head off But.........no Still leaking. Looked like it was then coming from a small hose above the manifold,so off that came an replace but stll no joy. Final conclusion was either waterpump or water pump seals. Decided to leave it for an expert to do it tomorrow Weekend over for me Until, the very kind people at Keith Price agreed to lend me a WRX hatch for the weekend So knowing id miss the Prodrive gathering as i was there trying to fix mine till 2pm it was straight to the hotel booked in Hounslow ready for the show in Windsor. Booked the room online and paid for it,or so i thought went to check in and was asked for £37 for the room. Said id paid online and was told that that their system was down and my payment hadnt gone through So off to find a cashpoint i go,finally found one and went back to check in Then up this morning and on to the show in Windsor. So my car lays broken up in Abergavenny until Pete the head mechanic figures out the problem tomorrow. Then i have the problem of getting the Hatch back to them and getting mine home as i have no money after the weekend, what fun Filled my car up friday £50 and another £70 gone in the hatch

On a brighter note,my faith in Humanity is restored after the help i had saturday from everyone involved.

But a special thanks goes to,Justin,John and Paul in Keith Price Absoulute legends and gentlemen. I cant thank you enough

Hatch is pretty sharp out of the box to be fair. Handleing is a bit suspect though. Although Merv was like a kid with a new toy today The handbook is a good read
Job front......Should hear from Skoda this week, they were sorting the applications last week. Job closing with days on 4th october. Fingers crossed. Thats if i have a car to get anywhere

No problem mate, i know how awkward it can be when your car is stranded and no means to get her back. Hope its a small issue and nothing too costly and it dosent come to selling.

UPDATE. Car has been looked at but cant see the problem till it gets stripped down. So picking it up with the AA tomorrow. Told it looked like either the waterpump or pump gasket so going to have to find some cash to buy one and see if that does the trick.

Would this one be worth the extra couple of pounds?

Glad to hear it's getting sorted Calvin, it's a pity you couldn't make the RB day as it was a good event.

I was up in Keith Price's today collecting a few bits and pieces, it was good of them to loan you a car as most dealers would have told you to sod off and left you in the lurch.

Better the aftermarket than the genuine Subaru item.

I asked the guy on the phone at RCM last week what the difference was apart from the price when I ordered that and some other bits from there last week.

Genuine Subaru parts are a rip off

I have to disagree with you on that, I always try to buy genuine where possible and KP's have always given good service.

Aftermarket parts are not always cheaper...
