Default Help with a type R

Hi guys,

A mate of mine has just bought a 97 p reg classic type r. The car has the following mods done by the former owner:

Front mount intercooler
HKS induction kit
uprated fuel pump
Magnex cat back exhuast
Bilstein coilover suspension
Turbo timer and a boost and oil guage.

My mate has saved up roughly £3000 to spend on mods for the car mainly engine mods, can anyone on here point him in the right direction either by giving us numbers of garages which could supply fit and set-up or a list of mods that you guys have done engine wise.

Thanks guys

I'd junk the HKS scoobys dont usually like them,or at least make sure its a solid fit with NO movement they are not maf friendly.
Has it been remapped? if not you have got to get it done of if it cant be mapped then change the ECU to one that can be.

Keep the rest of the money in a safe place for now just in case you need a fall back position.

He will more than likely need an engine rebuild if he does not get it mapped. All well and good being quick but it it blows its an expensive lesson to learn.

Its a no brainer.

Sports Cat/ De-cat Downpipe about £200
Td05 18G Turbo or similar depending on bhp target about £400 (used)
Mappable ECU like Apexi FC and re-map £500-800
Decent Induction Kit, Apexi r quite good and reasonable price £50
Bigger Injectors £100ish used £300ish new.
Bid brake Conversion (Brembo off newage sti about £450)

That should take a big chunk out of the £3K and give good power and brakes to match

Judging by some reports of some no name / home brew 'mappers' not a great deal more than them.

The first step would be to remove the current engine and fit a hairdryer in its place.

Seriously though a Swift GTi 16v engine would be my next step.
