Noticed today on the M4 Junc 23a (Magor) that there are some 6 camera's/sensors on top of Galvanized pipes at various points around the roundabout strapped to either the railings or to a lamp post facing the traffic flow.

Anyone know what these are for or are they another big brother watching scheme. ???

 

They are used to monitor traffic flow and congestion.

Normally before they do any improvments to the junction/roundabout.

 

Have bloody hard job doing 50 mph or more around this roundabout and this is not anywhere near those cameras, some 8 miles away.

Also they are not the same type, alot smaller and are only 3mtrs above ground level.

 

What he said, the cameras have been installed to measure traffic flow and will be removed once the survey has been completed.
They have nothing to do with speed, car tax or VOSA.
