Default My Scooby - the project.

Right after selling my Vectra, then buying a TDI passat which i couldnt get on with at all, i found this on ebay

Sellers pics

Pics weren't that good but it having a good service history was enough to make me take the trip to Bunham on Sea to view it. left at 8am on the morning got there for 12pm, Seller picke me and the mrs up at the station, on first seeing it i was impressed.

got back to the sellers house, who then gave me the keys for a test drive and didn't come with me (which surprised me a bit), test drive went really well, so went back, he was after a grand, but there were a few niggly bits needed to be done, so managed to knock it down to 800 with 6 months tax and 9 months MOT.

First things first took it up to Swansea's Fairwood Airport for some better pics

anyway at this point my list of jobs were as follows

Remove chavvy interior Neons on the inside headliner
Repaint calipers (as front were blue rear were red)
give interior a good valet
Sort out door sensor, as light was contious on the dash.
replace or fix rear passenger door as had a horrible filling job
replace drivers wing as had a little damage
decide on a respray or just replace parts and paint them
retrim the interior.

i was then going to fit my KENWOOD KDC4041 but as it came with a flip out DVD player i have decided to sell the kenwood on ebay instead

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=320411066517
first things first changed the door, sorry but i werent gonna do a diary so no pics of this bit.
brought on the bay for £35 delivered, then removed those chavvy neons as it was getting on my nerves, repainted calipers in red, ordered new wing for £33 delivered,
then picked up this for £25 only down the road http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=180393951235

after speaking to my uncle and his mate who have an accident repair shop in Birmingham they are gonna do a full respray for me for the cost of paint and a few quid cash in hand for the sprayer, so all in all £200. I have seen the sprayers work and he is worse than i am with regards to perfection lol.

So at the moment i am looking into trimmers to retrim my seats now.

will up date in 2 weeks with pics of the respray.

Well done for picking up a scooby for £800, a little bit of TLC should get it looking good. I'm sure the guys on here will help you spend your hard earned on it.
What colour are you thinking of spraying it?

I like the mica red. If you were going with the green or yellow I'd make sure you add some metallic flake (aka Electric Orange Focus ST, or the Black Mica scoob). It will add the wow factor to any paint job.

Right people,

first of all front bumper will be up for sale with foglights as of 7th - can be picked up from birmingham area until the 11th after that will need picking up from Swansea area. if payment is made first i may be able to leave it with my mam in Birmingham for collection.

Remove chavvy interior Neons on the inside headliner - REMOVED
Repaint calipers (as front were blue rear were red) - DONE
give interior a good valet - DONE
Sort out door sensor, as light was contious on the dash. - DONE
replace or fix rear passenger door as had a horrible filling job - DONE
replace drivers wing as had a little damage - DONE
decide on a respray or just replace parts and paint them - DECIDED FULL RESPRAY
retrim the interior. -

So on the 6th i am off to Birmingham for the respray to start, at the same time it will be having the following

New Alarm and Remote Central Locking Kit fitted
New CV joints
Sunstrip (not everyones cuppa, will be black strip and white writing)
AND THIS FOR THE VILLA fans
and have this sprayed and fitted

looking into Mud flaps (black with white SUBARU or IMPREZA)
re spray wheels white til i decide on replacements.

Thats it for now folks. next update will be of the finished work. including before during and after pics

Scottlowe.co.uk does some really good qualiity mud flaps. That's what I got on my car, done 3 autotests and countless gravel rally stages and still no damage or signs of wear. They were also some of the easiest I have ever fitted.

in abit of a mood at the moment.

Uncles mate phoned me at 2.30pm and told me he has been asked to leave the unit he is in as the landlord is selling up, He said he has got a new unit sorted but is waiting for the electric to be turned on and to get the spray booth rebuilt in the new unit. so wont be able to do it as planned on the 6th :smack . BUT the good news is he is knocking the price to £150 for the spray as he feels guilty. He is still going to install my alarm, CV joints etc etc as planned.

SO now i gotta wait until the 28th Sept for the respray!

Car goes into the garage at 9.30 in the morning just enough time to sign on and get home, good timing really as they are re tarmacing the road outside for 2 days so couldnt have planned it better if i had tried.

anyway although its just the door and bonnet being done cant wait to see it looking half decent. when i get it back i will be in need of some opinions as i had a brain wave the other night. all will be revealed

Car now in at the moment having the bits done, sprayer has had a look over the car and assures me that the cars paint except the 2 places i have noticed (are being done) is actually in good nick and just needs a good mop. anyway, had a chat with him about some work i want done to it as part of the new design. so £180 lighter and roughly a month or so to get the cash together and its going back in to have the next phase done. ALL will be revealed.

Glad i kept it though!!!!

Went to collect the car this afternoon, and there was a problem with the paint that was supplied.

Basically my black has a red pearl init, the one supplied didnt. this wasnt noticed until the parts had been sprayed. So they are reordering the paint in the morning and i should have the car back late tomorrow or friday at the latest.
