Default problems putting new stereo in car!!!

i have just taken the old double din stereo out of my scooby with all intentions to put a new i pod stereo in and i have come across a problem i have screwed in the blanking pocket in the bottom but when i put in the stereo i cant put on the surround of the stereo or slide the cup holders in and out??? i have checked to see if its the right blanking pocket and its the right one. apart from if its a different one for a classic or an import???? please can you give me some advice??????

its a 1996 m8 i just had a look to see if there is a different one for the classic or cause its an import and i cant find anything different????

mine is a my01 and the surround would not fit on my alpine so must be a common thing

Same thing with my pioneer. As for the cupholders, just trim a little bit off the bottom of them, it'll fit then. Either that or put the pocket on the top and stereo on the bottom.

i had the same problem but when i went into halfrouds they had a pack with 2 pockets in one has the high lip top and bottom and one has no lip so i fitted the one with no lip but it did leave a small gap which i wasnt happy with so if i was you i would trim the one you have to suit.

thats what i have been thinking to be honest i just thought it would have fitted straight in!! i will try doctoring it in work later fingers crossed i dont mess it up!!!!

as long as you keep the line straight you cant go wrong keep a smooth file around for any minor defects.
