SOLD

Due to my stunning ineptitude when it comes to eBay, I have ended up with two Sky HD boxes, one of which I've installed and the other of which is still sealed in it's box. I've also ended up with a massive hole in my bank account, just what I need when the timing belt change is booked in for Friday.

So, I have a Sky HD box for sale. It is still sealed and comes with remote control, batteries and Power SCART, HDMI, Telephone and RF leads. If you currently have Sky then installation is a doddle, though to use the Sky+ recording features you must have at least a dual LNB with two satellite connections. It will work fine with just a single though if you don't want to use Sky+

This is an unsubsidised box which means there is no requirement to have it connected to your phone line for 12 months, though you will need to connect it for a few hours so that Sky can pair the box to your existing viewing card. You will also need to pay an extra tenner a month to get the Sky HD channels (eg. Sky One HD), you will get the BBC/CH4 etc. HD channels for free

If you're in or near the south wales area (or if you don't mind waiting until my work takes me vaguely in your direction) then I am happy to deliver and install the box for you free of charge so long as you currently have a working Sky install (or at least have a cable running from your satellite dish to somewhere near your TV.

Features:

160gb useable hard drive space (the other 140gb is reserved for the Sky Anytime stuff)
Output up to 1080i on HDMI or Component video
2 SCART sockets
Optical output provides a choice of either Dolby Digital* (AC3) or PCM Stereo
All the stuff your current sky box does.

Well..........

Due to my stunning ability to miss bargains on ebay because I'm not willing to sit in front of my pc for 24 hours a day, I'll give you 175 quid for it. I'll even collect if it'll make it easier for you.

Sadly you seem to miss bargains on Scoobynet too. I've agreed to sell it to some guy in Heathrow, dropping it off tomorrow afternoon since I'm going that way anyway

Sorry. I would've preferred it to go local, if only to save the detour.

No probs.

For what it's worth, there is supposed to be a Pace Sky HD box coming out soon. People tend to prefer Pace boxes, so I suspect that'll push the value of Thompson ones down a bit if you're prepared to wait.

And yeah, you really need to be there for the last few minutes of the auction on eBay. Personally I never bother bidding until the last 45 seconds of the auction, by which point I'll have 3 separate windows open with increasingly higher bids on the "confirm bid" page, with a 4th window open on the main page that I can refresh to see how I did.

It helps to pick an auction that ends at a time when most people aren't online, if you want low prices too. I find 3AM-11PM best.
