Default Turbo up pipe advice please.

I thought my wrx was completely de-catted after my turbo back system from pro speed however Power station and Api informed me theres pre cat behind the turbo too , was recommended by most scooby tuners to remove it as when mapped ul get a better throttle response! any 1 had theres mapped with standard up pipe and stainless steel up pipe?? any difference in power??

Charlie @ pro speed quoted me £190 all in to supply and fit stainless steel turbo up pipe removing the pre cat!
Suggestions be grateful

i am in the same boat after getting my car mapped. once you hit 290bhp+ u better change it.
The turbo up pipe cat is known to shatter at high temps(higher than std bhp) and break up into the turbo. ouch.
worth changing sooner than later....espec on a classic model.

ive got a 03 bug eye and im changing mine as soon as i have a few pounds together.
If anything else mate its the peace of mind, plus the increases apparently you get from it bhp wise are great when re mapping

Ok I had a WRX Bugeye and there is an "Up" and "Down" Pipe cat fitted. If you completely de-cat it's MOT failure time.

Subaru Impreza Exhaust decat downpipe, centre section, sports cat. :

Impreza Turbo 2001-2005 New Age :

Nicked from Scoobyworld (Hope you don't mind).

I removed the down pipe cat, resonator and got 276BHP/334Nm with all the other bits still in place. The resonator is in the centre section and is easily confused with a catalytic converter.

Well Ive got turbo back system and my engine management light has only just come on after 700miles, where did u get your car mapped m8? charlie @ pro speed gave me a number of a bloke where he will mapp your car to how you drive it! apparently comes to your house plugs his laptop in the ecu plug and getts the most out of it for £450! not a bad price charlie said this bloke mapped few of his customers cars and all have good feedback!

Wanna get my car ready for mapping within the next 2 months i guess, the bloke who does mapping said il expect about 265-270bhp with turbo back system and green panel filter!

alright mate, i got mine mapped from andy f based in edinburgh.
He is the best in scotland.
He uses a similar method of doing the mapping out on the road with the wind on your back and then against it just to get detailed figures.
I have a 3" system with decat downpipe, std turbo upipe (the one you are wondering about) cold air induction kit and an uprated fuel pump. I got 285 bhp out of mine safely!!!

Honestly mate, take a a trip up to edinburgh with the missus or mates and its so worth the trip.
The difference in the car is amazing.
A std sti is left behind now!!!

Had mine done in Powerstation. You get the license so any upgrades costs are only the time spent on the rollers. If anything goes wrong they are only round the corner........ish.

I have done a group buy on a very good quality Up Pipe.

I have been seriously let down by a member on here and on my Local Site so i have two Up pipes still that i have paid for and they now dont want!

Look in the Groub buy section for "High Quality Up Pipes GB"

I am willing to post for FREE so £85 will take one away, these Uppipes are superb quality. and this price for them wont happen again Cheers

Not a bad price m8 but rather have the pipe supplied and fitted by pro speed least if it starts blowing i can go back and have it done for nothing
