Try to avoid the foam ones (HKS, Piper Cross) They seem worse than the cotton guaze (K&N type)
saying that, there is nothing wrong with the standard airbox and decent filter if your running power upto 330-350BHP

I was running a Piper Viper induction kit on my 93 wrx for over a year with no probs at all and had really good results from it at the rolling road day at Powerstation. Had to change it for an Apexi induction kit when i fitted my Front mount tho, as it was too big to fit with all the pipework for the new intercooler. Don't see any probs with it as it isn't the oiled type, which everyone is advised to avoid. I found it really good as its covered with a carbon fibre heatshield, so it doesn't suffer from heat soak. I've still got it if your interested?

I've been running a HKS Green on my MY92 Legacy since 2002.....
It's been fine/Great .... However, there was a case study done a good while ago, that showed the Apexi out perform the others for both filtration and 'general' performance........
I'm looking to go to an Apexi.......... providing it will fit in the gap
