Question Ickle Number Plates, Can I ??

At the recent and very well attended mini meet at the Toby, I noticed a few of you guys had very small front number plates, which after carefull consideration i decided i like alot...

Q1. Are they legal?

Q2. Do you ever get stopped for having them...?

Q3. If the answer to above is sort of yes followed by no, where can i get them made?

Thanks Paul

Next question will be about whereabouts of chrome mesh grills i noticed, very lovely as well.

Ickle number plates are on the jap imports as the import sized letters are legally smaller than UK lettering

IMHO.. You should take a look at the artical on the front page of last weeks motorcycle news, with ref to ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition), this will effect all vehicles...
In this case pionts dont make prizes

WRX,STI Those grills are mint M8, I liked the look of them at the meet, do they do them for the STI v7? I also like your front bumper/splitter better than the v7 variety, i would like to change mine.... Like your work tho

I had a very small plate on mine, drove around newport area for about 6 months with no problems, but got pulled for it in cardiff after passing a tax van, got a £30 fine, but will be putting a slightly bigger (3/4 size) back on when i get round to having one made.

I paid £10 for mine for a place in blackwood.

According to some bloke in some sort of uniform in this big horse carriage volvo thing with silly flashing lights and bright stickers, who tried to race me home one night....... Doesnt matter where the car is from, UK law is the numbers/letters have to be 3 and a quarter inches tall with some gap between them and bladdy blah blah......

I lost interest at this point.

This guy then went on about some ticket and so many days to get it changed and get this bit of paper stamped and then of all things, take it to a police station ! The ******* audacity of him..

Think he was still a bit wound up from last time he'd seen me.... Volvo coming towards me, pair of them gazing directly at the plate.... They went past, i dived up a side street, jumped out with the correct plate in hand, double sided tape all over the back of it ready, slammed it over the little plate and carried on with my journey.... As i pulled back on to the main road, they were parked waiting....

I was politely asked to step out of the vehicle by the officer who was progressing to the front of the car to get a proper look at the plate...

Oh how the smugness disappeared from his chops......

Was politely informed to be on my way in just two words.....

Heres the DVLA web site, Import cars can have smaller numbers and smaller spacing but it doesn't state the size of plate. But if you walk into Halford and can prove it's an import they supply the legal size import plate. They wouldn't let me have one as mine is a UK!

Paul reading dannyboy007's comment about imports looks like we could have a set. As ours are imports even though they are european spec. Just keep a copy of your Cyprus reg doc in the car to upset the old bill.

Erm it does refer to imports where the size of the plate is restricted by the confines of the vehicle.........I reckon that counts us all out IMHO

depends on if you bought it new or 2nd hand i guess......
There are some mint P1's for sale and there are some dogs....
I bought mine from new and she will be 5yrs old in June.... Paid 32K, worth around 15-16K now.... so 3K a year aint too bad

I've seen WR1's for 20K already

And i have to agreee with you on the P1 front end.... I personally think its Subaru's best so far... Its gonna be a sad day when she goes to make way for the next toy
