Having used C.V.C Cardiff and Keith Price in Abergavenny and not been happy with either just wondered what everyone else thinks about their local Welsh dealers.

Chip,
Swansea Mitsubishi have recently opened their Subaru franchise, but as i've got a jap import i've no knowledge of their servicing - i'm an outcast!!!!
Maybe worth a spin down on a saturday just to see what sort of operation they run?

we've got an offical scooby enginner who does the work on our car, a certain (unamed dealership apparently serviced our car 2 years ago, hush, hush.... and ruined it [sounded like a dog]) but Lee, our Scooby engineer worked wonders and fixed it. Last night fitted an adjustable boost gauge...this man knows what he's doing
If you'd like to contact him, give me a shout
Cheers

tried buying my MY00 Turbo from CVC. Very poor service couldn't even arrange a test drive so I went to Bristol. Just had 1st service done at cvc. not too bad but didn't understand about wanting to use Mobil 1 oil etc. They have promised me an invite to see prodrive team set up during RAC though.

Who promised you that. I was also told I could visit during build up to rally but dont hold out much hope if previous experience with them is anything to go by.

May be wrong but if you look at other threads on the subject I think you'll find that Mobil 1 should'nt be used as it is the wrong viscosity to the standard scoob spec.

Chip,
There is a different Mobil 1 called Mobil 1 Motorsport which was recommended by the dealer where I bought my car and is also recommended by Graham Goode Racing.
It is a different viscosity to normal Mobil 1 oil.
You are correct though, normal mobil 1 is unsuitable.

I checked out threads on Mobil 1 oil etc. One guy got a response from Mobil & Subaru saying Mobil 1 too thin for use in turbo, even motorsport version not approved by Subaru. BUT a special Mobil 1 oil has been made available to Subaru dealers wich is approved but not available in shops etc. The implication was that any oil not approved would invalidate your warranty!!!!! CVC didn't know anything about this just said they used standard approved oil. Where else can you get turbo serviced and maintain warranty near Cardiff ?

Phatboy-With all due respect, whilst this may be true about even Mobil 1 Motorsport not being approved by Subaru dealers, if its good enough for GGR its good enough for me and its what I use in my WRX.
Each to his own as they say .

Dealers use a synthetic blend. Of what, I don't know. All I can say is, that as your warranty is not affected does it really matter that much that you wont be using Mobil 1.

Spoke to a chap who works for that new Swansea Subaru/Mitch dealer. He wasn't sure whether they'd service greys but thought they might....
Anyway, I suppose it's worth a phone call.

Chip,
Have had recent service in Keith Price...seemed ok and no problem getting them to look at "faults" such as engine surges when cold and clutch judder. CVC not interested in these and also did an appaling job in my opinion on the 1 year service...nuff said.....My problem is that a mate I work with has had no problems at Keith Price, but you obviously have....mmmmm what a perplexing situation we have in Wales REGARDING GOOD DEALER SERVICE!
