Either Pentwyn, Cardiff (just off the A48) or Sarn Services (M4, J36), near Bridgend. Both about 20 miles, 20 minutes from St Athan.

There's an Esso just outside St Athan that sells SUL and a Texaco in Bridgend that sells SUL. Not sure if the Texaco by M4, J35 sells SUL (probably does but it'll be more expensive being just off the motorway). Other than that you're a bit fooked like me.

There is a BP on the A48 at Cowbridge but he's a bit pricey, greedy **** and a miserable c*nt t'boot, so I don't go there.

The Tesco and BP in Bridgend are UL and Diesel only, as is the Texaco in Barry. The only other SUL places I know nearby are the Morrisons supermarket in Barry and the Tesco at Culverhouse Cross, but then you're beginning to go all the way into Cardiff just for fuel.

Optimax may be replaced by V power? http://www.shell-tankstelle.de/12.asp Also Tesco may be bringing 99RON to Llantrisant as all the 97 pumps have had their signs removed. X fingers they are not just removing SUL altogether.

If they try that in Culver I am going to Boycotte the modern day Mafia a.k.a. Tesco for Petrol Food and Mastercard. Like they would notice!

Post ECUTEK on Tesco 97

People laughed when i said i was having my ECUTEK done while only running on TESCO 97 .. Now after the Turbo upgrade, (which i might add was done while still running TESCO 97) The figures obtained are the best Rich(powerstation) has seen for the mod`s that have been carried out)) I have now changed to THE NEW FORMULA BP ULTIMATE www.bpultimate.com with the ECU self learning we are now ready for the next stage of development.
And of course there are no shortage of BP garages about.

Tell me about it. I've been there about 3 times in the last year to fill up. Never given me a hello, thankyou, goodbye. Not even acknowledged that I've just spent the best part of £50.

I'm not expecting the red carpet treatment but some simple manners and common courtesy wouldn't go a miss.

WA**ER!!!

.....except when the one in Bridgend states "BP Ultimate" on the signs outside, it's actually referring to "BP Ultimate Diesel".

N.B. The Shell garage near Pentwyn hasn't had any Optimax for a couple of weeks either (unless they've received a delivery in the last 4 or 5 days, anyone?).

uk fuel is 95ron for UL and 97ron for SUL. Optimax is something like 98.4ron IIRC.

I'm running mine on Texaco hi octane too, seems to run better on that than on BP Ultimate.

NOCATSTI - where's the Shell in Barry? I know the Shell website says it's near the town centre but I've looked a few times but can't find it

Since having my TSL performance pack fitted i have only ever run the car on optimax however prior to that i have used BP ultimate only a few times and once esso super unleaded.
I wont ever run on Bp ultimate again as the car ran rough and performance was way down, the engine just does not run right on it, the esso was a lot better and not having run any other fuels if i had no choice its what i`d use.
On optimax it runs like a watch with very little soot in the exhaust its the best by far its just a shame that there seams to be a bit of a shortage at the mo, i`m considering carrying some octane booster from now on just in case i get caught out but will be passing by all the BP garages for sure.
If the tesco 99 ron came available around here i`d give it a go just to try it but if you have your car re-maped you HAVE to have it mapped on the fuel you intend to use on a daily basis what ever it is.

Default Bad news

I called into the shell station @ Hirwaun/Aberdare today to ask when the next delivery of Optimax would be and the young lady sayed "We will probably not have another delivery because we are shutting down for good at the end of January" Well thats me knackered for fuel. Does anyone know of another station in the aberdare area selling an equivalent, do not really want to travel over to the rhondda as it is not on my work route.

Stupid you indeed its now Texaco! I thought fantasic when I got the scoob as I work in Barry but alas everything other than Morrisons is Texaco. Culver still has 97 and I hope beyond all hopes that they will have 99 soon. I'm in Soton so a fresh tank of 99 will be going in in the morning. Job done.

I thought the Shell in Barry had gone. I gor the address from the Shell www and printed a map from multimap.co.uk. I followed it exactly and could I find it??? "NO!".

That'll be why, it's now a Texaco.
