Guys, how does this sound for a plan.
A proper camping weekend in say June/July next year, situated in the big 'bowl' area of the former WRC stage at Sweet Lamb. Wouldn't necesarily have to be a UK thing, altough we can invite!!
We could see if we could let the landowner let us use some of the stage for anyone wishing to do so, or even possibly invite Bill Gwynne to bring one of his cars along and take people out/give tuition etc.
There is tons of parking there, plenty of space a good natural amphitheatre and some of the best roads in britain on the way there. If we were to look at it properly i am sure we could do this quite easily.
There is also the added Bonus of the seaside resort of Aberystwyth nearby for anyone who doesn't want to camp (Andy! ) as well as it being central so all you North Walians can get involved as well. Easy trip from Shrewsbury for midlands lot, and some good fun driving for everyone else who is coming along.

Anyone who thinks this is good/bad or wants to help to get it all going, post it here and we can see where we go!

Are there any facilities there at all? If we're camping we could at least do with a loo. We may be better off to stay at a proper campsite nearby?

I'm sure that we could sort all of that out if there was enough interest, and if I remember correctly there were some facilities there, although it is a rally stage so not that many!!
Main thing is to asess the possiblity of it at present, details like provision of toilets/wash facilities etc is number 99 of a 100 things to look at to start with!!

Will do Gaz,
Main thing first really is to find a contact name of the guy that owns the land at Sweet Lamb to find out! Anyone know where we can find that out?

Spoke to Sweet Lamb this afternoon who said the following:
Use of the land and the stage are around £800 to them. They can organise for burger vans etc to come along, and say that we charge them around £50 each to come along, as well as around £50 each to any trade stands we choose to invite in order to recoup as much of that as possible. Camping over the Saturday night can be allowed, although obviusly they cannot be held responsible for security, and there must be no "stupid antics" ie racing around the stage unsupervised. They have no problems with Bill Gwynne or maxspeed etc bringing cars along to use the stage, and infact offered an additional area that can be set aside for more basic rally trainig should it be required!!
They can also arrange for portaloos, at around £30 each for the day.

All in all it sounds pretty reasonable, and I have a rough price guide below...

Outgoings:
Site Hire £800
Portaloos £150 (Three Gents Two Ladies)

Incomings:
£150 (three burger vans)
£250 (Five trade stands)
Leaving us to find £500, which can be done by charging say £5 for entry to every scoob. If we can get around 2-3 hundred then that leaves some left over for a slush fund - Er.. I mean for charity lol.

Any comments?
