Question

Anyone know the roads well from the M6 (I'm coming down from Scotland) through to Builth Wells in Wales ?

Looking at the map, it looks like an obvious route to go all the down the M6 to around the Stoke area, then take the A525 or the A53 (looks a bit longer with some B roads thrown in). That way I stay on the (theoretically) faster M6 for as long as possible, even if it is a few miles longer

However, Autoroute suggests cutting off the M6 at the M56, skirting around Chester, and then heading down the A483 directly there, via Wrexham.

Does anyone know these roads and can suggest the quickest route to drive there (ie no busy single carriageway roads with no overtaking, or towns and villages every 3 miles with lots of 30mph zones).

However, if the A483 is dual carriageway most of the way, then it might be best.

John,
Best bet is to come off the M6 onto the M56 heading towards Chester.
At Junc 15 turn onto the M53 South signed Chester. This changes to the *** after a few miles.
After 2 more Junctions take the slip left onto the A483 signed Wrexham.
Continue to thenfollow signs to Wrexham onto Oswestry, Welshpool,Newtown,Landrindod Wells finally then to Builth.

There are no Dual carriageways around here at all. This is Wales after all. But the roads especially after Oswestry are quite enjoyable.

Ive taken all this from memory so check it out first but I dont think its too far out if t all.

Happy motoring

Chip.
